does the 327 operate at about double the pressure of the h&r?
you could do before and after pictures at the range of your hand maybe?

"Any recommendations for converting an 1892 to 45 Colt?"
aside from the fact that it might just be cheaper to buy one new?

have two 2x7 scout scopes in use.
one for 6 years (+) the other for two years now.
both have served well especially the older one that has been in the back of a jeep for the first 5 years of its life and now in a pickup truck..
would but one again if i needed to - i have a fixed power burris that's now about 8 years old, it's super light but for the price it's hard to beat the hilux units..

"I was curious, so I bought some Buffalo Bore and Underwood 305gr Cast.
Buffalo Bore, 305 LBT LFN HC rated 1,325 fps Underwood, 305 LFNGC Plated (HiTech?) rated 1,325 fps LabRadar muzzle velocity at 33 deg F
S&W M69 2.75" ===> BB 1,195 fps ===> Under 1,147fps S&W M69 4.25" ===> BB 1,276 fps ===> Under 1,248 fps Ruger SRH 7.5" ===> BB 1,395 fps ===> Under 1,315 fps
hey, a 305gr lbt at 1248 from a 4" trail gun - "ain't" nothin' to sneeze at!!

"why don’t you have the scope rings turned the same direction"
....unless machined specifically for orientation - if they hold in place, what's the diff?
good luck with the bisley in 44mag - those are "hen's teeth" in this part of virginia!

.............next, the "26 and 3/4 extra"...
............because IT holds two more than the 30 super carry..........
..come to think of it, i believe there's a company that has a pistol in 22mag that holds a bunch..

"preferred grips for a square butt Redhawk?"
one of the wonderful things about revolvers v autos is that grip/grip shapes are almost infinite in choice..
my original grips were waaay to small for my hand - "back in the day" the pach presentations grips were almost "goldilocks" and i have had the same (although showing a bit of age) since just after i bought the gun over 30 years back..
those grips are still "findable" online.
there are several handmade grips that can be had, a quick look at herretts, badger or altamont would be good starts..

just bring back a nf in 41 mag - they did it back when keith was alive on the standard saa frame as a "prototype" and then as soon as the old cowboy died, almost immediately dropped it...

while going through a few old issues of handloader, i came across hl #59 wherein brian pearce suggests using longshot in lieu of hs6, which along with proper sizing/alloy selection might reduce leading..
when talking to john linebaugh a while back, john mentioned that hs6 had a cooler burn.
interesting stuff to be sure - the question is two part:
-a. anybody use his suggested longshot loads for the 475 (yes, you will have to look up "bullets and brass" in hl59)?
-b. has longshot been tried for reduced load performance in the 500l?

..the FBI S&W Mod 13 3" was the last revolver they issued before going over to auto pistols. my roomate from ocs got his issued just after completing their school and kept it after 30 years of service - with the roundbutt pachmayr he put on it as soon as he got it after being advised by a senior agent... compact, powerful - what's not to like? for whatever reason, i bought one in '88, they still came in the blue box, and have kept it - without ever having fired it.... i know, what an idiot, right? it's just that when i saw my first stainless speed six - it took my heart away... and now after all those years (30+), i retired that gun and replaced it with a 3"gp100: www.rugerforum.net/threads/3-gp100-silk-purse-sows-ear.390471/#post-4532998..and i still ooh and ahh over that nib model 13....

rimz work pretty good for practice, some folks go w/steel for "social" work and a moon/de-moon tool may just be "the ticket.."

a gentleman over on rugerforum.net talked about this not long ago.
having been involved "on the line" at ruger for several years he has been a wealth of knowledge ref all things ruger.
as with most things in industry, production costs drive a lot of decision making.
"back in the day" the two piece barrel for the dan wesson gun was a selling point, offering capability.
today, it is simply to cut costs - at first it doesn't look like much, then you notice the front sight is no loger easily interchanchable - the machining of the front hole, the plunge cut for the bottom of the sight blade, the spring and the front sight plunger have all been omitted.
now, it's a dovetail and shove in a fixed blade.
it all adds up when thousands of guns are made.....
at first this may seem like an opportunity for everyone wanting a redhawk to have a revolver with a .005" flash gap, sadly, taking my feeler gauge to the richmond gun show this weekend proved me wrong.....

bradshaw is on the money ref the gordon davis holster - i saw/handled one of these in the mid eighties, it was gently use but wow, the quality was first rate!
and wouldn't one of those holsters be perfect for that vintage n frame!
