Does anybody know if they are still making SAA Colts ? just wondering if since CZ has taken over , maybe we will eventually see a Colt SAA or maybe a New Frontier that is made correctly .

I do not know, but would welcome them and buy New Frontiers in any caliber they offered.
I'm overwhelmed by the quality of my recently purchased Colt Anaconda 44 Magnum. I'd buy one in 45 Colt in a heartbeat as well.
Long since washed my hands of Colt's poor quality, obscene prices and anti-American business model. But, hoping CZ turns them around.

Maybe they can finish developing the .400 Colt Magnum, now would be a good time, along with a 10mm auxiliary and maybe even four cylinder set .400 colt, 10mm auto, 38-40, and a 41 colt. Take a page from Uberti and maybe have a dragoon grip option and bring back the Bisley?

The handful of guns that were coming out of Colt the last few years seemed to be the best they had produced in years. I’d personally like to see the New Frontiers going again and I have it on very good accord this is all in the long terms plans for CZ once they finish the transition. CZ is changing a lot of things, and it takes time, but I think they are going to succeed where so many of the past owners of Colt failed. We will see.

As we've seen, certain rules apply to success.
Freedom Arms produces revolvers that are expensive. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. But, they are extremely well made revolvers. Quite possibly (varies by opinion) the best in the world. My interpretation of that is shooters are willing to pay for quality.
You can also produce cheap quality guns at low prices. Heritage, Ruger Wrangler, Charter Arms, etc have been around and proven there is a market for inexpensive guns.
I own both, so guess I support both ends of the spectrum. But, you can't produce a Heritage Quality Revolver and expect shooters to pay FA Prices.
Regardless what we've heard from compensated propaganda artists disguised as gun writers, that's exactly what Colt tried.
What's pathetic is they tried it over and over and over. Einstein theorized that was the definition of insanity.
When they turned traitor on Americans and refused to sale them ARs, they determined their own well deserved fate...

I believe we'd all love to see Colt returned to glory and hopefully CZ will make that happen.

In my opinion, Colt has made mostly good stuff the last few years. Back in the 80s I bought a Detective special new in the box , and 1 chamber was to tight except a factory round. There were some bugs in the new Python but they seem to have fixed it. And i am very impressed with the King Cobra. And the Anaconda. I have a Competition model 1911 that is excellent and would love a Defender .45. A new Frontier in 44 Special would be great , Color cased like the old ones ! Hell yes. But probably very expensive ! I also would love, (pipe dream I Know) a Revolver in the .360 Dan Wesson. It seems a very practical round to me. How many different cartridges could it shoot ? And It might fit the Python ! ...tj

just bring back a nf in 41 mag - they did it back when keith was alive on the standard saa frame as a "prototype" and then as soon as the old cowboy died, almost immediately dropped it...

As you all know, CZ now produces the Dan Wesson line of 1911s. The last few years we've acquired several DWs 1911s and they are, IOHO, much better than the current production from Colt, which BTW is better than it's been for a while. The fit, finish and detailing of the DWs rivals many of the Semi-custom guns on the market. And, regardless of DWs recommendation for a 500 round break-in, all of our guns have run 100% right out of the box with just some lube added. They are also very accurate. Production numbers are relatively low but, because of that, the quality remains high.
If CZ would build the SAA like they do 1911s, Colt would be on a real roll.

I wish I could be optimistic but I do not see CZ producing very many if any Colt Single Actions. Witness how many Dan Wesson revolvers they have produced since taking over that company. They are basically a semi-automatic company and they do that extremely well. Semi-autos can be made more easily and more economically than revolvers and in today's market also sell better. I hope I am wrong and CZ produces both the Single Action Army and the New Frontier in quantity and equal to or better, which would be hard to do, than those Single Actions and New Frontiers produced in the 175th Anniversary Colt year of 2011.

Wesson farmed our the development of the revolver they have out now. A buddy has the prototype on his desk. Surprised me. The company builds artillery......

No idea if Czechs are still in charge at CZ, but the one time I was there, Czechs (and Hungarians too) loved single action revolvers and lever guns and cowboy shooting, so if a Czech citizen is in charge of the company, I'd bet they'd want to put a Single Action Army into production.
