while going through a few old issues of handloader, i came across hl #59 wherein brian pearce suggests using longshot in lieu of hs6, which along with proper sizing/alloy selection might reduce leading..
when talking to john linebaugh a while back, john mentioned that hs6 had a cooler burn.
interesting stuff to be sure - the question is two part:
-a. anybody use his suggested longshot loads for the 475 (yes, you will have to look up "bullets and brass" in hl59)?
-b. has longshot been tried for reduced load performance in the 500l?

Try 10grs and work up but I don’t have anything for .500L over 12grs in any loads. 375-450grs in 500
In the FWIW dept….. I’ve not used it much, I like Titegroup and Unique recently for “light” (400grs at almost any velocity will leave a mark) loads but HS-6 seems to give me the best accuracy at mid range and very manageable recoil. The cartridges seems to do well over such a wide range of weights and velocities that it is hard to go wrong.
