Any recommendations for converting an 1892 to 45 Colt?

IT MUST BE A .38-40 OR .44-40 SO WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO?

Are you talking a Winchester ? or a Replica ? I sure would not change a Winchester 92. There are good copy 92s or marlin 94s to be had in .45 LC alredy, and for less money than a conversion !...tj

I've had a lot of experience with sixgun cartridge chambered lever actions since 1957. The most accurate I have ever found is a Marlin Trapper .45 Colt

A replica.
I have a 20" JM Marlin 1894 in 45 Colt.
Just prefer the handling of the 92.

I bet you would find one if you looked hard.

Realistically, it would probably be less expensive to simply buy a 92 clone in 45 Colt than it would be to have one rebarreled. I paid $400 for this "Interarms" recently. My 24" Miroku 92 in 45 Colt is a superb shooter and was not much more. That said, the least expensive way to convert might be to have it rebored. JES does leverguns but I'm not sure if he will go from 44 to 45. Usually two calibers is the minimum.

If it's a 357, they seem to carry a $100 premium over the 44 Mag online - IF you can find one.
When I was actually actively shopping, I saw a lot of 44 Mags and 45 Colts, but the 357s were harder to find. May be the one you have is worth more in trading stock as it is.
I actually quit even passively looking because the last Rossi 357 I saw online was almost $800!

Wow Jeffh, I hadn't realized 357s-'s carried a premium. I lucked into one, also marked Interarms, several years ago. A great shooter though this one's action is still a little tight. It pairs nicely with my OM BH.
Right now, I'd love to find a .44 Mag. I have a Marlin, but I do enjoy shooting the Rossi clones.

It pairs nicely with my OM BH. Right now, I'd love to find a .44 Mag. I have a Marlin, but I do enjoy shooting the Rossi clones. Seems there's little to be found at the moment, but as supplies dried up, I watched and 44 Mags were consistently available when 357s were not. When there WERE 357s, they were $100 more than the 44 Mags.
The 16" 92s went first, which is what I want - what I am replacing - and 20" models were all that were available WHEN they were available. I shopped passively for a couple years, when online shops were asking over $500 for them, and continued to watch and wait as they dried up.
In 2008 or 2009, I got a 16" 357 Rossi 92 for $430 - online. I felt at that time that was a bit high, thinking then they should have been $275. Anyway, I did a bunch of work on it, got it shooting decently and functioning like butter and sold it to my brother, figuring he'd be trying to trade or sell it back in a year or so. Nope. He fell in love with that gun and I'm out, so I did do some pretty extensive shopping for a time. Gave up on it completely just recently and will wait it out.
