I think if you check with Freedom Arms, they will tell you it is not a good idea. I do not recall the particulars, but Bob Baker has explained the reason quite well in the past on other forums. It has to do with the tight tolerances and possible erosion in front of the shorter cartridge. I seem to recall it is especially not recommended with 45 colt in a 454 cylinder. I think you are much better off just using 475 brass and reducing the loads. Also Buffalo Bore offers a great reduced power load for the 475. I use them a lot and they are extremely accurate, at least out of my FA 475.

I have a S&W 340 PD HiViz with C T laser grips and a S&W 396 Night Guard also with C T laser grips. I prefer the 44 special as I can get much faster follow up shots with it. I am able to improve the follow up of the 340 by dropping down to 38 +P, but even then the 44 is faster back on target. The 396 Night Guard is a very fine CCW revolver, especially with the laser grips to back up the XS big dot night sights.

Just watched an episode of Have Gun Will Travel where Richard Boone says "this gun is custom fitted and perfectly balanced with a one ounce trigger pull. ONE OUNCE? Talk about your hair trigger.

I can not speak for the Bearcat, but must stand in defense of the single six. My 7 1/2 inch SS will hold 3/4 inch or smaller 6 shot groups at 50 yards using 22LR and slightly better with the 22 Mag cylinder. I will admit that this setup is using a Leupold 2 x 7 scope, and sitting at the bench with sandbags. It took quite a bit of testing to find the ammo that will do this and when I did find it I bought up all I could lay my hands on. This setup has accounted for many squirrels, Prairie Dogs, bunnies, a few badgers and several coyotes. I would like to replace it someday with a Freedom Arms 97 in one of the 32 caliber rounds, but until that day comes, the Ruger Single Six works and works well.

"President Obama receives the Cy Young Award" The award committee press release stated the award was well deserved and given for the way he threw out the first pitch this year. ;D

I beg to differ...IT IS NEVER TOO COLD TO SHOOT! IF YOU LIVE LONG ENOUGH IT WILL BE!!!![/quote] Amen Sir. Last winter was the first winter of living long enough to get cold for me. Time to head for a warmer shooting range. And I too hope the new book is out soon. John, your books are among the few that I re-read every so often. Thank you!

The 45 Colt can be loaded up well beyond the 45 ACP in performance and as such would be more desirable for a woods bummin gun. ANd besides it is always fun to have something just a little different. ;D
