KRal, those are gorgeous. If mine turn out even half that nice I will be a happy man. Beautiful work Zane.
KRal, who did the polish work on your gun?

Always Drink Upstream From the Herd has double meaning to me. The first should be obvious. The second relates to news and information. I prefer mine without the editorial bias of the person reporting. Tell me what happened, not what I should think about what happened. I consider them good words to live by. Hope your day is turning out to be blessed and successful.

Chilly mid morning east of Dallas. Morning chores are done, working on my 4th cup of coffee and just sitting down to my office work. Looks like it is going to be a nice one. Have a blessed, safe and successful day.

Good Morning from Poetry. Looks like a norther is fixing to blow in for a few days. It is in the low 50s this morning with a damp north wind and it is supposed to stay in the high 50s during the day and drop into the 40s at night for few along with some rain. Okay, enough of the weather already. It must be time to get some coffee going and get moving. Here is to a blessed and successful day for y'all.

Thank you for all the advice and information. I do not think I would try to make my first ever set of grips using sheep horn. I think maybe I would consider trying some short scrap 2x4 fro HD for the first 1, 2 or 10 tries. One thing I forgot to ask was if sheep horn is okay for slimmer "gunfighter" style grips? I am looking into a set of Merino horn grips from Zane. Thanks again for sharing the wisdom.

Good morning, looks like a great day here just east of Dallas. Sunrise was clear and mid 60's headed for a breezy mid seventies. Hope for a good and successful day for all, and thoughts and prayers for the folks near San Antonio.

I am looking for a set of grips to fit my mid size flat top 45 Colt 45 ACP. IT HAS THE X R-3 grip frame. It has been a long time since I have paid attention to Single Action grip makers. I would welcome any suggestions? Thank you.

Turning of the leaves and skinning of the raccoons ! Fall is here! That reminds me, "Fall" opens today in Iowa but that is a long time and a fair distance from where I am now. The idea of raccoons, fox, coyote, muskrat beaver and mink along with conibears and the pungent fragrance of pure musk lures my thoughts back to a time when a single six was all the companion you needed while walking the line to be safe and save your hide. Hope you have a good and successful day everyone.

I am looking to use these loads in a Ruger Flat Top Convertible 45 Colt45 ACP. It is built on a mid size Ruger frame and is safe for 22’000 to 23’000 psi. The load is a 300 grain wide flat nose hard cast lead gas check bullet over 9 grains o Unique in WW brass and large pistol primers. Opinions please? Thank you.

I wanted to interrupt to say thank you for the discussion on your new Abilene and upcoming Blacktail hunt. It made for a good read with my morning coffee today. I especially like the photo of your box of reloads. If that is not a piece of Americana than I do not know what is. Good luck with your trip and hunt.

Good Morning folks.
One more question if I may. Is the front sight roll pin and the corresponding hole on a Ruger SA a standard size and if so, what size drill bit is correct for drilling the new sight blade?
Thanks,
Steve
