Hamilton's working on mine as we speak 10mm Magnum and 38-40...he wants me to see if I can scrounge up another 10mm cylinder so I'd have 3 calibers...

I have an SP-101 spurless hammer DA only that Grant did for me in his last year of gunsmithing. It is a very nice little gun, as good an action on an SP-101 as I have ever worked with.

Nice try, Max! I'm going to initially run some of the Double Tap 10mm Magnum, then seriously take a look at the reloads. I just ordered a bunch of brass from Starline.
BTW, since I talked to you, it looks like my Cape Buffalo trip in SA is coming together…it'll be with a Marlin 45/70 lever gun. If it comes off, I'm going stay a few days extra and do some plains game hunting with the BFR 45/70. I don't necessarily want another zebra or wildebeest, bur hey, you take what Africa gives you!
I'm also looking at doing some work with the .30 Carbine in my Blackhawk…it's loud, and big fun. I just ordered some of the Buffalo Bore heavy .30.
BTW BTW, our friends at Kahr/MR are very happy with the video I just cut for them. Good for us!

Well, John's cashed my check, so the gun can't be far behind! I will note that my Sweetie, when going through the December checks, said, "What on earth did you buy?" She's a 3-Gun shooter...no room to talk, I'd say!
Luckily, I have one of the early .500 S&W's and am set up on brass, bullets and dies (although those Badman Bullets look pretty interesting).
I've got a couple of Rob's holsters set up with his "Chesty Puller" chest rig, and they work well. I also have a Diamond D Guide's Choice chest holster for a Redhawk that's very nice. Survival Sheath Systems makes and absolutely superior Kydex chest holster, and I believe Robert makes a version for the long barreled .500 Magnum. I'll drop him a note and see if he can tinker one up.
Actually, I'm glad you reminded me about John's guns. We have a big industry round table every year, and I was shooting the S&W 3 1/2 inch .500, which I kinda liked...although I scared the S&W guy to death when I started cranking out double action shots pretty quickly! I'd also been looking at the 6-inch half-lug .500, which is a pretty nice gun.
Also, thank you for the kind words on the shows and website! I have one of the great scam jobs in the world.

I ended up deciding to buy one of the 10mm Blackhawks from Jason at Lipsey's, mostly as a platform for a Hamilton Bowen project. I thought I'd get Hamilton to ream the 10mm cylinder out to 10mm Magnum, a round that looks fun to tinker with, and have the aux .40 S&W - a caliber I truly despise - cylinder cut to 38-40. Since it's going to Hamilton, I'm sure there are a "few little things" he'll suggest as well. Then I'll get a decent set of grips and I'll have a nice gun to futz around with.
After a couple of years of finally learning to really shoot a rifle, I want to get back to big bore handguns...and Max has been a terrible influence on me! I love the rifles, but launching bullets out a long long way is an expensive game that can only be played in certain places. I have to drive 2+ hours to find a 1000 yard range, but I can shoot big bore handguns in my back yard. Plus, and this came as a real shock to me, I'm not 25 years old anymore. The run and gun hop, skip and jump rifle and 3-Gun matches do take a toll.
Anyhow, I've really enjoyed hammering away the last couple of months with the big guns! Besides, after getting used to $4000 glass, custom pistol work no longer looks so expensive!

Picked up my Lipsey's half-lug .44 Special...if it shoots as good as it looks, it may well be the Holy Grail of small .44s! I'll shoot it as soon as the temerature gets above OH HOLY CRAP IT'S FREEZING OUT HERE!

Just a note...I spoke with Rob Leahey at SIMPLY RUGGED about holsters, and he said he's done them for these guns before. That'll be my first choice. I'm going to speak to Ken Null next week...he did John's original holster.

Warhawk...I can't believe you cost me this much money!
Of course, I was going to piss the money away on a BFR .454, so I guess it's a wash. Talked to John this morning and ordered one...we're also talking about filming the Rich Davis bowling pin match in June for SHOOTING GALLERY 2019...they have a "Big Push" class for .44 Magnum to .500 Magnum, where you have to knock the pins something like 14 feet to clear the table. Big ole lead softballs should do the trick.
Besides, I have a Ruger .454...

Hi all…you can see a little of me shooting the SRH 10mm this wednesday on DOWN RANGE Radio's 15 minute video podcast. Go to www.downrange.tv and follow the link. I liked it, BTW…hell of a 50-yard hunting revolver for deer/hog. Michael B

Be interested in Whitworth's opinion…
I took mine out today for the first time, and, of course given the weight, it was a sweetheart to shoot. I was running 180-gr ARMSCOR ball on my plates, which includes a cowboy action shooting buffalo at 40 yards, a 6-inch plate at 45 yards and a 12-inch plate at 50 yards. It was boringly easy to smack the plates, even with iron sights. I'm waiting for set of rings from Midway USA to put an Ultradot on it, and I think that should allow me to push it out a bit.
Next week I'll take it out and group it with some DoubleTap hunting ammo and see what we shall see.
Planning on doing a SHOOTING GALLERY episode on the "Bizarre Resurrection of the 10mm" in early January.
BTW, the SG episode we filmed with Max at FTW Ranch was big, big fun!

I talked to Hamiton Bowen about this once upon a time...building a British Bulldog out of a Redhawk.
Do-able, but crazy expensice...

Already have mine on order, and will definitely convert the .40 S&W (a round I particularly dislike after years of USPSA Limited) cylinder to 38-40, a round I love and am set up to reload.
10mm is an interesting beastie...talking to a friend of mine today who shot an elk with a 10mm at inside 200 yards...elk went down hard. I have one episode of SHOOTING GALLERY left to film for the 2018 season. Right now my Overlords have me holding the episode in case they want me to launch a new series off it. If they release it, I'm going to do a "Bizarre Resurrection of the 10mm" episode.

Sorry I haven't been around much recently! The upcoming season of SHOOTING GALLERY is heavy on precision rifles, Scout rifles, and pistol caliber carbines. With it almost in the bag -- 2 more episodes to film this year -- I'm getting back to single actions.
I got one of the Cimarron "Bad Boy" .44 Magnums for T&E...Army style frame, flat top with adjustable sights, 8-inch octagonal barrel and a really great blued finish...I plan to do a full report on it for SGO (short for SHOOTING GALLERY ONLINE...clever, huh?), which is unfortunately behind Outdoor Channel's paywall at MyOutdoorTV.com. I haven't really wrung it out yet, but I have a thing for Army frames and octagonal barrels. I ran a box of 240-gr JHPS through it on 15 and 25 yard steel, and I thought it handled just great, that big barrel soaking up the recoil. Short story...I told Cimarron I'd buy it. I see it as fitting in a "traditional" .44 Magnum niche, stopping at the 240-gr level...I've got the Rugers for dinosaur killers! Besides, it's just pretty.
I sent back the .45 Colt/.45 ACP Redhawk...shot just spiffy, but I decided to stay in .44 Magnum, .454 Casull and 45/70 for the big bore handgun needs. Love the 45/70 BFR! With the cowboy lead it's an accurate powderpuff and surprisingly gentle with the Hornady Leverevolutions...I have dropped any of Ashley Emerson's bombs in it yet.
Finally -- and Mr. Tiffin sorta warned me about this year's back -- I got to my orthopedist, and he's puzzled. He said I have classic "use" arthritis in the knuckle and finger joint of my right index finger. "How on earth," he asked, "does someone manage to overuse their right index finger?" Let me explain, I say...
