This store has a bunch of purple heart lumber for sale. I’ve used it done in the past but it is a little to “loud” colored for my tastes. If I can’t naked a deal on the crest if the koa then I think I’ll bug some of their Peruvian walnut next. Much darker than our normal black walnut, almost ebony colored.

Right before John G died I asked him to check with Thad about making me another holster snd he told John he was fine except for family. Luckily John had one of Thad’s on hand and let me buy it.

No, I did not stumble across a two digit Colt SAA or anything like that! What I did find was just about as hard to find though. I had stopped in at my hardwood lumber supplier to pick up some maple for filling some Nativity set orders we hen I was walking up to the front and I saw a section of Koa wood that said Display Sample. This store has lots of other hardwoods such as Wendell, Bloodwood and Jatoba but rarely does it have the rarer woods like teak or Koa. In fact I bought the last pieces of teak they had last year and they have not been able to replace it. I gave never seen Koa wood for sale at this store until today. Apparently Hawaii has restricted the shipment of Koa lumber so the supply is very tight, especially in 7’ long boards like these. Whem I was in prison, oops I mean Hawaii, a couple of months ago I went in a furniture store t that sold Koa furniture and the prices were insane! $33,000 for a dining room table and $7000 for a 3’ long sofa table.
I picked through the boards the shop had and picked the gif boards with the most figure and reflectiveness. I also told the salesman to have the manager come up with a price for the other pieces I left and if it is better than the $49 / BF I paid for these, I would buy the rest of it. I may have to send done to Kim and Zane for them to transform even though I don’t have any guns to put it on nor do I need anymore knives!

I have a heavy steel plate pre drilled for several of my reloading tools that I clamp down with derp throat clamps but there is still some bolting and wrenching involved. This set up is tool free and much handier I think.

Like many of you I have one of the In-line riser mounts that I use under my press. I was looking on their website and noticed they now offer a different top plate that lets you convert one mount into a mount that will hold all your presses, vices and other bench mounted tools. Since I just snagged a Dillon SD press I ordered a new adapter top plate and three specific base plates for my T-7, the SD and one for my Real Avid gun vice. Talk about a slick set up. Unscrewed two winged nuts, popped the Turret off and in about 30 seconds had the vice installed to hold a little Model 7 do I could mount a scope. They even have a docking piece you can mount to a wall or cabinet to store your other tools that you have base plates installed one. Pretty neat set up for utilizing one mount for several tools.

I have one of these guns in this configuration except for the fact that mine came with the bisley spurred hammer. I knew they only made a couple hundred of the shopkeepers and of these very few came with the different hammer but I never knew Lew Orton commissioned a limited run of these guns. Neat packing pistol if a guys likes short barreled single actions. www.gunbroker.com/item/953173055

It is always fun to hear the history on an old gun like that. The relative little cost involved in a story like this is inconsequential. Thank you for taking the initiative to help him out.

I had the pre-op X-rays and MRI for a knee replacement done today so it looks like I’ll be ordering this one for some new reading material during the recliner time coming up. My only fear is JT will re-ignite the DA interest and get me in trouble like he did 20+ years ago with custom single actions!

You, your FFL or his representative can do what ever they "interpret " as right in regards to receiving and shipping firearms. It's only after your gun is damaged, lost or stolen that you'll get to see how the rules not followed, are then enforced. You are tight Joe. After seeing all the different interpretations, corporate shenanigans and government obfuscation I personally will pick what I feel is right and reasonable and go from there. As far as a potential damage or list item is concerned, I will lose about as much sleep over it as I do worrying about getting hit by a car when I cross a street. A possibility? - sure but nothing in life is guaranteed except or leaving if someday,

I am a day late but yesterday it was the old H&R Topper Jr. 20 gauge again for my last turkey for the year. Kind of like a guy I know, ugly, old, stubby and scruffy but somehow it still seems to get it done.
