A few weeks ago I posted over in the Lounge about needing help with creating some 32-20 ammo for a friend. He is retired on a typical retirees income. Now 32-20 is out the roof in price and he owns this old Smith&Wesson made in 1915 that belonged to his grandmother. She lived on a ranch in eastern Oregon in the Blues (range of mountains) and helped fill the larder and cellar of the ranch house with that 32-20. The guy is quite adept at carpentry and masonry. I hired him to do some cabinetry work for me. That's how I learned about the 32-20. So for a surprise I decided to build him some 32-20, and made an appeal to guys on this forumfor help as I had no dies, bullets brass or experience with loading the 32-20. Kings 6 and Encore 64 immediately shipped dies and bullets and brass. With help and advice from other members including lar4570, jd, 2 Dogs,45MAN. Anyway all the info is on the lounge thread, But I finally published pictures of Frank with his gun and ammo over there, but no one has looked so I thought I would follow up with the pics here. To answer 45 MANs statement about being close. Grandma would sit in the truck (think Model A Ford here) and when the deer came close to see what the pickins were around the feed truck. Grandma would harvest a little venison. Having grown up in the inland northwest our I grandparents were always into survival. Salmon River country here in Idaho will still teach you that today if needs be. Anyway here's Frank. Frank is tickled pink, and this is his tickled pink look "for the camera". Frank also received a baggie with extra rounds in it. He tells me I'm his 32-20 guy. OK, thanks to all of you again! Tom

It is always fun to hear the history on an old gun like that. The relative little cost involved in a story like this is inconsequential. Thank you for taking the initiative to help him out.

Thanks, it was and is all positive for me. Frank isn't a gun person but he will have the wherewithal to a least become a fan. I'll take him to the range when he can get away. Like most retirees we spend inordinate amounts of precious time, doing things we never had time for when we "held down a job". But we will do it!

The folks here are good people. Overwhelmingly generous and kind. There’s countless folks here who have helped me out and don’t bat an eye at helping others. You love to see it.
