I am going to look at SD this spring since it is closer to my kids in CO. Not sure the winters of ND are what I want to head to Malcolm.

Well I just saw on the news that the 10 round limit on mags goes into effect on Thursday but the permit to purchase part is on hold for thirty days so I’ll need to find a base gun pretty quickly or edit until I move to secure something.

I will know later today if all gun sales are shut down here in the state or if there is a two month extension of a complete judicial stay until it is fully litigated. IF it is at least delayed at lest two months, I may have time to find and purchase one more revolver to use for a little custom project.
Since I am not very well versed in the DA world I thought I’d ask you guys for some ideas in what to look for. I want to do a DA 41 Special that utilizes a thin Model 520 barrel I had Al Siegrist rebore from 357 to 41. Fixed sights, possibly round butt grip frame and maybe the rear sights will be of a combat style. I know S&W made fixed sighted guns slightly smaller than the N frame. I would not be too opposed to a smaller framed gun as long as my N frame barrel will work. I’m also not opposed to going with an older fixed sighted N frame gun along the lines of the older Heavy Duty guns.
Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
Robb

Depending on the gun I use crossdraws by Mike Barranti or Thad Rybka , strongside with retention straps by Rybka or a shoulder holster by Rybka.

A couple more hours then we fly out of DC back to the west coast and our own bed! Sure going to miss the little guy though. He should be crawling and maybe even have some teeth before we get to see him again.

Just put the grandson down for his first nap then when he wakes up I’ll feed him then go for a walk around the neighborhood and look at all the old houses that have had 3 or 4 different additions added over the last seven to eight decades! Tomorrow both kids have off so I hear we are headed to the big Christmas bazaar in DC and The National Archives or the Bible Museum. I’m not in Kansas any more Toto!

We visited about your FA 97 today Tim. We were talking about snakewood and Rob showed us a set of snakewood 1911 grips of scales and then he mentioned that Roy Fishpaw one time made a set of one piece snakewood grips for a Bowen modified model 97 and he said Roy told him that those grips would never come off! I remember Roy telling me that when he did those but I never understood why. Rob shared that apparently Hamilton put a very small alignment pin in the bottom of the grip frame and Roy installed the grips around the pin then glued them together! You should have seen the look on Rob’s face when I told him I was the customer whom Roy and Hamilton had built that unicorn 97 for😄 I told him that gun now lived in OK with you and you could see the light come on about how small our little world really is.

Last Friday my wife and I flew out to see our oldest son and his family which included our youngest grandson. Currently they live in Arlington. VA which just happens to be about an hour away from Waterford VA which is the home of Rob Rowen. I have a rather unique set of ivory grips that I was hoping Rob would take a look at so I contacted him and he was gracious enough to let Remington and I come to his shop and drop the grips off. While the grips were the main reason for the visit, the secondary reason was to let Remington meet Rob in person. While I’m still healthy, but worn, I want to make every effort to pass on the passion I have for the artistic and craftsmanship of todays artist such as Rob, Hamilton, Doc Barranti to my son. Getting to meet Rob in person was a true pleasure for both Remington and myself.

That is right. The larger 5 shot conversions require the frame window opened up so the serial number needs to be low enough on the side of the frame to allow the enlargement without getting into the serial number.
