Yea, I know its mean, real mean. Should get some views though, lol.
OK, I'd like to start a discussion on what it would take to build one for less than what a Marlin 32 H&R is running on GB and the cost to convert from H&R to FM.
1. 327 runs the pressure right on up there so what actions do you think will hold up in the long run. I was contemplating a carbon steel Rossi 357 as the base platform
2. Been stalking Green Mountains web site for the past 6 months looking for a barrel. At one point I was thinking of reboring an old Winnie 92 in 25-20 or lining it but I think the chamber pressures are alittle much for the liner and the older steel hardness in the frames won't hold up to a steady diet of full house rounds.
3. Besides a new extractor, what else do you think will need to be done?
A. Recut/bush the boltface?
B. Larger ejector?
C. Cartridge guides?
D. Install a sleeve inside the mag tube to keep ctrgs alined?
Your thoughts please.

www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,42580.0.html I have one, picked it up in jun/jul time frame from my dealer in OR. Would love to tell ya about it but still haven't filled out a 4473 and picked it up. Yea, this trip hasn't been an organized gang bang to say the least, more like an unorganized circle joke with stuff half completed. Anyway, I was down that way a couple of years ago when he and another 'friend of ours' pulled out a couple of identical HC 1886s, the previous version called the Kodiak I believe. Anyhow, shot them both and liked the 18" 1/2 Oct - 1/2 round, barrel mounted peep and FO front and the fact that it was matte hard chrome. I shot it probably 3z4 times along with an Alaskan TD 92 style in 44 mag. We discussed availability a few times then this spring I get a call if I was still interested. Its' not the same, TD with a scout scope rail, little larger lever loop (good for gloved hands) and a muzzle break. I said sure, just take it outta what cha owe me. Holy sheep you know what, I figured about 1150-1200. Now, refrence the above link. Fit and finish on all that I saw were nice on the outside however, alittle rough on the inside. These aren't Winoukos. Slow and diliberate and they work fine as they come outta the box. They need alittle TLC, the standard slick job and spring tweak along with the above to get the last hicoup out. When I et my hands on it, I'll update this.

I don't think you will be able to find a reliner specialist to take on the job. Most relines are for old black powder cartridges in the 20-25k psi range and the 10 is running upwards of 37.5k. I'm not to familiar with the xdms in 9, 40 and 45. As previously mentioned my idea would be to go with a 40 or, a rebored 9mm barrel in your 45 frame but the frames and slides are probably simular to glocks 40 and 45 frames.

The lockwork is MIM to include the thumb safety and most likely the slide stop but I've been wrong before. MIM has come a long way in the past 20 years so I wouldn't be to quick to throw it under the bus, you might get 25-30K outta those parts before it would need the standard tune up/rebuild. The extractor will be due for replacement @ 10K and the lockwork will need a touch up @ 15-30K which at that time I'd invest in tool steel sear and hammer, properly fitted and tuned. I'd say for now, shoot it hard and put it up wet for the first K and see what improvements you deem required before changing anything.
If something breaks, replace it with a quality part (Wilson). Recommend recoil spring change @ 1K intervals. Those shorter slides are hell on recoil springs and look at changing mag springs annually on high use mags to prevent feeding problems. Also, no recoil/shock buffers in Cmdr or shorter guns.

Thanks for the info gents. To clarify, I can use a NM SBH frame with the old lock work but, need to fab up an easy peezy brass do-maflagie with the domaflagie info available on the ruger forum. Off to another rabbit hole I go.

Base Gun is an early 70s Ruger BH w/ 7.5" barrel in 45 Colt.
Currently, this old girl suffered a broken hammer while dry firing some 20 years ago. It has come up in conversations frequently but I or the owner haven't litterally had an OM Hammer fall outta the sky and hit us so it just been hidden in a sock in the top dresser drawer all this time.
I discovered while surfing that Ron Powers was making an OM Registered BH standard and Bisley Hammer save signing a release waiver. So I call so n so up and tell him the good news. Bring it up for the holidays and we'll get her fixed up. Well now, so and so wants to install a SBH grip frame. I try and talk him into a bisley frame but he wants a SBH cause it is longer for his big hands. So off to the auction sites I go to find an OM SBH grip frame.
I have the following ?s:
1. From reading up on the SBH GF, it has a wider trigger. Will an OM BH trigger work or will I need to also secure a SBH trigger?
2. Besides normal grip frame fitting, can a NM SBH grip frame be used with OM lock work or would major invasive surgery be required/not practical?
Thanks in advance gentleman.

I'd have to say for the past 35 years the 1911 pattern pistol be it 3, 3.5, 4.25 or 5". I've got seven in the safe now with another 2 on the build list when I get time. Right now though I've got a hankering to play with a p35 too so everything is kinda subject to change if I fall in love but I think it might just be a mid-life crisis trist.
Kinda like carbon steel 5" with a bushing, 20 lpi front and rear checkering, hairline fitted grip safety with a tactical (small) extended single side safety, tall rear sight with tritrinium front by10-8, Heine str8 or Novaks, Kart or Barstow barrels and and Wilson internals and tool steel lock work all dressed in maganese parkerizing. I wouldn't mind matte hard chrome ion bond or cerra-kote as long as it is subtle and not hot pinko or zombie green. Fur dressing up nicely figured dark walnut or ebony but micarta is bullet proof.
