I put one on a 9mm and a 45 build so far. It is supposed to add smoothness to the cycle to aid in consistancy. It was initially implemented by S&W on one of their autos and Marvel started doing it on 1911s.

I'm running a set of H&R dies. Haven't had the opportunity to load 32 S&W or S&W Long but should be doable for the long. WCs might be a challenge in the two S&W cartridges.

I picked up a Hornady about 4-5 years ago. It works but the more brass you out in the less effective/longer cycle you need to run. 10-15 ctgs, pretty quick (7-12 min), 100 3-4 20 min cycles. I'll stick with SS pins.

I really like that 22 Mag. Folks shoot more 22 than centerfire yet, very few customs for the most shot caliber.

That will be a really nice build. I been teetering on chopping down a 45 bisley or line boring a 44 and rebarrel. This doesn't help the wallet out. This forum is full of enablers. Hope the wait is short.

I'd say, get one lot of SL brass and designate it for that gun only. Remeasure, with that brass and if chambers on the 2 holes are shallow, ream to fit to make them all uniform. I have a sort of the problem in a tight FA 45 acp cylinder. Brass shot in glocks goes to the scrap bin or general 1911 bucket.

I have a 627 PC 5". It'll need the PC trigger job finished. The Nil style wood grips are narrow and in the process of either securing some after markets or making my own. If you are sold on the 5" barrel you have no other course. If a 4" will satisfy you, go with the 627 4", a Wolff spring pack with a type 2 mainspring and do a trigger job yourself.
For moon clips, tk customs has two thicknesses and a moon clip loader. I went with a BMT designed loader/unloader and not completely happy with it. I have trouble after getting 6-7 loaded in the clip.
A 358429 will need to go into 38 Special brass or trimmed 357 Mag brass. A 686 will take the 358429 seated in standard 357 brass.
ADD: Not to be a Debby Downer, If your heart is set on the V Comp, by all means. I was sold on the 5" PC until I got it and found the hand binding on the star in double action mode. For the 2+ bills over a standard 627 x 8 I was alittle perturbed for a CS product. I perused the V comp but couldn't get over the premium the dealers wanted for them. I'm happy now with my 5", it'll take whatever abuse I load up. I was also looking at a 3" 686 x 6 for concealed carry but am going to go old school with a 13 or 65 chopped to 3" with a lamped dovetail front and shaved Novac on the rear.

I was looking at one in Cabelas in 44 mag wishing it was 45 Colt. Well, I guess I need to start really saving up. That is a nice compact unit.

I don't know where you live but could have been a salvaged case/pallet from the recent wetness last year and pulled out of a flooded warehouse.

Probably pick one up on the ruger forum or gunbroker but you will spend some time searching or just return it to Ruger and get one fitted after calling customer service and checking availability.

Loaded up 100 327 sledgehammers and 64 rounds of 475LB with the Lee 475-325 WFN. I've had this Lee mold for two years, figured it was time to have it earn it's keep.
Tomorrows schedule includes a bunch of 357 topped with Mihec's copy of the 358-429 and a couple of boxes of 454 with the Hornady 300 XTPs.

Watch what Magnum said. They do multiply. I picked up an 83 4.75" last March with an extra 45 acp cylinder. The only thing I've done is broken some edges and took some tension off of the trigger return spring. I'll start making some grips for the 475 here in a couple of weeks. It's a field grade model wearing the Pachmeyers. Shoots great but kinda ugly.
Now just waiting on my Lyman 452-651 325 gr GC mold to make it back from Lyman. It was casting undersized.
Nice score!

I prefer fixed sights, lamped front and tall rear. For the two lamp style introduced by Heine as the straight eight design, two lamps stacked vertically like a figure 8. With lamps, the rear is alot less cluttered as with the two dot rears and single dot front.
When ordering, the rears are now available in .125, .140 and .156 slots with the standard .125 front. This allows alittle light on the sides of the front sight and folks feel they are alittle quicker. I prefer 140 slot but might move to 156 here shortly as my eyes age.
On the shorter 1911 slides (Cmdr, Off and 3"), opt for the taller rear (.050 taller) so you have a taller front sight.
I generally install the factory rear and a blank front and regulate for a POI 2" high from POA @ 25m with 230 ball. I then either serrate the face of the front and mag park or order a Novak front at the height needed.
If it is in 9mm range shooter that consumes various loads and weight projos, you might want to consider an adjustable rear.
For fixed sights, I prefer 10-8 or Heine rears and Novak front dovetail. The 10-8 rear works in a Novak sight cut.
