Merry Christmas my friend. That is a beauty. I am glad you were able to obtain this revolver. Enjoy it and don't look back. All we have is today and our hopes for the future.

Merry Christmas to you, Firedude. The .500 JRH is next on my list. As I am retired it will take a while to save for it. Please post your impressions when it arrives!

I received my Custom Shop Bisley in .475 Linebaugh about a month ago. A Service Representative at Magnum Research told me that one man makes all of the Custom Shop BFR models. He also informed me the man takes great care building these revolvers as they are a personal creation which reflects his love of this revolver, and that if asked about any particular gun can remember the details of almost every one he has made. I hope you enjoy your BFR as much as I do mine. Merry Christmas from Traverse City, Mi!

Might I suggest a set of American Walnut grips from Scott Kolar at S-K Grips, for that .45 Bisley. He made mine extra thick and they absorb recoil as well as keepingmy knuckle off the trigger guard!

Semi Annual Update Inquiry. I wonder if paid pre-orders might get the Publisher to move on this?

Too bad most of the replies did not address your question. The Uberti is the obvious choice. Later, if you become a single action enthusiast, you may acquire a Blackhawk or two. Double actions are also a blast, but initially a GP-100 will exceed your budget. You can have a ball with the Uberti at the range, and I bet it won't take long before you are shooting more .357 than .38 special. Any gun is better than No Gun when confronting a burglar. During my time I arrested a hell of a lot of burglars, the vast majority were hitting businesses. I have never had the (opportunity) occasion to find someone trying to get in my home. You said you have since moved, so the odds of getting hit again should be remote. Buy whatever you feel you want!

I also have the Bisley model 0470 for several years now. It will handle everything I have fed it up to Buffalo Bore +P 325 grain cast at 1,325 fps! (ouch). I shoot a lot of Dardas 255 gr, SWC over 8.0 to 8.5 grains of Unique. What a pleasure this load is. Pretty mild at around 800 fps, and really very accurate. At about $62 per 500 bullets I can afford to shoot 100 rounds whenever I feel the urge. Easy on the wrists and the pocketbook! If you enjoy your new Bisley half as much as I have mine, you are in for a treat!

I had to revisit to this post with an update. I purchased a 4 5/8 Bisley SBH used from a fellow on the Ruger Forum. Whitworth is correct about the "Fun Factor". I have loaded 355 true cast GC with 11.0 gr. of Unique at about 1.000 fps for a fun load, and the same bullet over 26.0 grns. of H100 for a little more oomph. Both are pleasant to shoot. Just received 4 boxes of Deep Curl 325 grn. to play with, and the 410 grn. cast are coming. This is the most fun I have had with a sixgun since my first single six back in 1966! This Ruger has grips that are near pefect. the cylinder throats are great. It is like brand new! I am having a ball!

I have never shot a hog (would love to if someone would take me! I’d trade them a ND prairie dog pistol hunt!). But I assume this is about the area of the grisle plate? We were all sharing trophy pictures, and I wanted in on it!

I love the barrel band and the front sight! Everything here is what I love in a Blackhawk!
