Great post with fascinating comments have really tickled my interest. I just did an internet search for Mr. MacPherson's book and found it on Amazon for $600. to $1,000. Does anyone know where a copy may be obtained at a reasonable price?

Mr. Bradshaw, thank you for your explanation. It is yet another reason I constantly prowl the pages of this Forum. I am learning on a daily basis. Warmest regards.

I saw him featured on a segment of "HOW IT WORKs" on T.V. Looks like a Pro.

I don't know if my opinion counts as a relative newcomer. I have owned an S&W 629 for 30 years and enjoyed it. A year or so ago I lucked into a Blackhawk 7.5" in .45 Colt at a good price.. This allowed me to start playing with handloads and cast bullets. I recently bought a SS Bisley Blackhawk with the 5.5" barrel. It will take me a while to play with various loads and bullet weights, but that is the fun part. I, like you, would eventually like to own a Ruger 5 shot, FA or custom big bore, but I have a lot to learn before that happens. This Forum is one of my primary "go to" sources for good solid information. In the meantime, HAVE FUN!

O.K., that did it. My entry into the big bore world will be the Ruger .480. Thanks Max.

Hello again from Traverse City. I am relatively new here on the Forum. I have been shooting my older 7.5" .45 Blackhawk for a year now. I just received a new stainless .45 Bisley Blackhawk with the 5.5" barrel. I currently load 255 gr. Dadra's cast SSWCBB at about 950 fps. My old Blackhawk shoots these loads better than I can. My question is this. Should I follow any particular "break in" procedure on this revolver? I will use cast bullets exclusively. I do reload but have not yet begun casting. Any helpful hints appreciated!

Ericp, yes I did go to the Elk Rapids Clun 30 years ago. I now am a member of the Kingsley Sportsman's Club. Markbo, yes it is beautiful in the summer. Right now we have 37 degrees and freezing rain.

I came home from work 4 years ago to find my wife in a comatose state on the bedroom floor. It turned out she had a seizure and vomited, ingesting it into her lungs. Laid there about 10 hours before I found her. The EMT's came and kept her alive to get to the hospital. Eight days in ICU in a coma. I was ready to give up, but I asked God to get us through this. She recovered with some brain damage. It took about a year for the Neurologist to diagnose what happened and get the proper treatment regimen. Her adapting to different neuro drugs was a trial for her. Our Faith got us through it. Today, our life is better than ever. Sometimes you just have to trust God, and to appreciate good health, good friends, and above all family. Continued prayer for you and your Daughter!

I am a fairly new member. I live in Northern Michigan and have been viewing the Forum for quite a while. I have to admit that this Forum is by far my favorite. The people here are friendly and informative, and most importantly, never critical. I want to thank you all for having me- it is an education every time I log in! Dan

As I read this it is November 5th. Your faith is wonderful. I pray for your friend Hank's family. I know in my heart that God, in His mercy will bring comfort to Susie and their children, and to YOU as well, my friend.

My gosh, I got tears in my eyes. I wish I could meet Mr. Taffin before one of us passes, but on second thought, I do know him through his writing. You have been a good friend John, may God bless you even more than He has.
