Just ordered a stainless Ruger (model #0470) blackhawk 45 colt bisley with a 5.5 inch barrel from Bud’s. I’ve been wanting one for a while and finally went for it. Really looking forward to this one, will buy components once I save funds again.

Congratulations, should be an enjoyable gun for you. Got mine back in 2003 an Acusport Exclusive in those days. Did have to ream the cylinder throats to 0.4525" as all I shoot is lead. Added Hougue Black Micarta grips as they fit my hands better than factory. Yep get your reloading components and get busy.

Great packin pistol! Check for undersized cylinder throats and thread choke in the barrel. If I wasn't so heavily invested in 44s, I would be in 45 Colts.

Mine is the William's Shooters Supply convertible. I Really like it. !!! I haven't really started casting for it. But will soon. A 340 gr boolit @ 1200 fps is some serious thump.

Great choice Kyle. I also have the Williams 5.5" stainless gun.
No better choice out there.
Congratulations, Huey

Sounds like a great addition. I'm a 44 guy or I'd be shooting 45 Colt too. My Dad has a stainless 4 5/8" Blackhawk and it' a great piece. Enjoy.

If you want a nice easy shooting load try Trailboss powder. You can't double charge the .45 Colt case & you can easily get into the 800fps range.

I also have the Bisley model 0470 for several years now. It will handle everything I have fed it up to Buffalo Bore +P 325 grain cast at 1,325 fps! (ouch). I shoot a lot of Dardas 255 gr, SWC over 8.0 to 8.5 grains of Unique. What a pleasure this load is. Pretty mild at around 800 fps, and really very accurate. At about $62 per 500 bullets I can afford to shoot 100 rounds whenever I feel the urge. Easy on the wrists and the pocketbook! If you enjoy your new Bisley half as much as I have mine, you are in for a treat!

I got a stainless 45 Colt a few years back. Had to have a little work done on it to get it running right. Now I would never part with it. My favorite load for it is a 300 LFN and 13 gr of HS6. That will handle just about anything I'll ever need and it has a satisfying amount of recoil. 45 Colt and that revolver are a great set up. I'm betting you will be very pleased.

Kyle has a habit of adding nice guns to his collection.
I keep trying to prod him to more small bores, but he gravitates to the big bores.
Cant say much. I did too for 35 years. Now I enjoy the uncharted small bore and even some bigger bores in small guns.

I picked up the 45 Ruger today. Have to say it instantly became one of my favorite revolvers. I will have to check the throats and have a couple things done in the future. But bottom line- I’m glad I finally got it.

I started down this road about two yrs ago . Mine made a detour on the way home and stoped to see Hamilton Bowen for a while. He did his Perfect Bisley #2 package on it and every time I pick it up I think to my self “ WOW it was worth every penny “ . Last night I was at the range and my buddy was admiring it( he hadn’t seen it since I got the custom grips fron LSCG!) and wanted to shoot it. My money is that he has one soon too!
