Crappy cell phone pic, but it's a real looker! Taking it to the range tomorrow with some 350gr over H110. The .45 chambers are tighter than my FA 83.

I always like your style when it comes to custom revolvers. Powder choice as well. By pure coincidence the first powder I ever bought was Longshot, all I could find during a great component shortage. After testing many powders since, I've settled on TiteGroup for plinking loads, Longshot for nearly full power stuff, and H110/296 for top end. Longshot however, is probably the most flexible powder I've found for a revolver shooter. It puts up seriously impressive velocity and consistency for short barrel, magnum level rounds.

That's absolutely beautiful, and I'm sure a solid shooter. Really nice find.

Thanks for the report Sean. I'm hoping to do some warm up rounds this weekend on small steel plates.

They are nice revolvers, mine still shaves rings of lead but shoots tiny little groups.

Does anyone make 18 inch calipers? Um, there's a problem i created for myself..... Didn't think that one thru. I believe a yard stick will suffice, you can then measure to scale based upon a picture.

I haven't shot precision stuff in a while, perhaps this will be the excuse.

I asked Hamilton to regulate the front sight for a moderate 230-250 gr, so with those 850 FPS loads it's right on at about 30 yards. When I shoot hotter 250 and 285 gr they should sit nicely on top of the sight picture. Once I got the hang of it I had no trouble dropping 6" plates at 35 yards. Will probably head out to the rifle range soon and try some 100 yard, or 150 yard steel. I have a similar USFA that shoots a 230gr bullet at 875fps and a 255gr bullet at 975fps to the same place at 25 yards. Honestly the 230gr loaf gets shot lots (although I just shot the last of them last weekend and have to load up a bunch more) and the 255gr bullet gets shot just occasionally. I figure if I need more than that I have many other guns. But there is something special about SAA guns. That is very interesting as I'm currently looking to find a nice 230 gr load in the mid 800 range. Next step is 250 gr closer to 1,000 fps. Perhaps after that I'll dabble with the 285 gr profile.

So you found a wonderfully consistent bullet, how does it shoot to the sights? It has to hit where it looks. Range trip #1 was with the .45 ACP cylinder. Today I took it out for the first time sporting its .45 Colt cylinder. Those of you who hand load will appreciate the following: 230 gr RN Blue Bullet 6.75 gr Red Dot 1.605" o.a.l Starline Brass CCI 300 Primer First five shots out of the gun averaged 858 fps with an ES of 5 fps & SD of 2 fps.I have tested more rounds than I can remember and have never had such a small ES and SD. That was pretty cool. Anyway, here's some more pictures of the SAA and now sporting its Barranti shuck. I love Doc's Northwest Mountain Companion holsters. I also took out my first ever 5 shot, a David Clements 500 JRH. These were just some leisure loads, 335 gr running along at 1,132 fps. Plan to work up some max 440 gr loads in the near future with this one.
