The Redhawk is the most aggressive gun I have in terms of recoil related issues. I tore a hole in my hand once shooting about 100 rounds of 350 gr at 1150-1250 fps. That top part of the grip frame just dug in every time. I have video of it somewhere.

Alaskan454, weren't you the guy that posted the video of running an IDPA or ? similar course of fire ? That was cool. That was probably me! I used to occasionally shoot a 454 Alaskan with 300 gr XTPs on a full charge of H4227. They were spicy. 400 PF rounds

Oh, and I'm planning to make my 4" 625 a snub too...

I shot a Snub Noir match this month with my Kimber K6s. I had forgotten how much I love these guns. A few bad ideas later and I've got a used 9mm LCR and 340M&P on the way. This will be fun.

I've owned three Alaskan models. I bought a 44 mag and wanted to upgrade to a .45, the 454 was a fun gun but had a .453 barrel and .455 throats. It need .454 cast to shoot well or the heavy duty jacketed stuff. Ended up selling it to buy another 44 magnum, had that rechambered to .45 Colt and a 4" Anaconda barrel installed. Couldn't be happier.

How does it shoot? I've had guns with "defects" that shot quite well.

Looking for info on the titanium cylinder I find there are lots of writings about them. With proper cleaning there should not be an issue with a 9mm cartridge in a L frame. I have several Smith 929s with mileage, my first one probably has 40-50k rounds through it and still shoots well. I check them all once a year for mechanical fit and wear. The titanium cylinders hold up just fine but you may see little spots show up in the chambers where the coating wears off. From what I can tell, this doesn't cause any functional problems. I know several competitive shooters who put more rounds through them than me and they haven't had problems. Unless you drop a double charge in the chamber, the cylinders will probably outlast their owners. I only know one or two guys who have actually had to replace them. Those guns had at least 80k rounds through them if I had to guess.

Several years ago David made my first custom revolver, still one of my favorites. I'll try to find some pictures.

I'm all about the 100 yd life. I just forget to post. This thread has legitimately changed my range outings and my skill level.

Is anyone here seriously considering a bid? Too much $$ for me but I'd buy it if I could afford it.

The only one left on my bucket list is a custom Ruger Flattop conversion in .45 Colt.
