This one made me chuckle a bit.
Redhawks will handle more power than I'm interested in shooting out of them. I decided to cap my Redhawk loads at 350gr and 1,200 fps to keep them enjoyable. Out of a 4" barrel you've got a lot more headroom before the pressure ceiling is reached.
It is the only big bore that's ever literally ripped the skin off of my hand. Here's some video from that range trip below. I will say that I foolishly assumed my hand was hitting the hammer spur at the time. Mr. Bradshaw wisely pointed out that it was the backstrap giving me trouble. Reshaping that is on my lengthy to do list for winter.

Keyholing

I have experienced keyholing with undersized bullets and suspect you might want to check your bullet, throat, and bore sizing.
I'd be hard pressed to think your bullet weight or length alone is the problem at 200 gr. I've shot tens of thousands of slow, long bullets through different revolvers with varying dimensions. Several that "shouldn't" shoot well still ring steel out to 150 yards. Those with poor dimensions have shot sideways at 5 yards.
Generally I've seen this with bullets sized. 001" or more under groove diameter, or throats sized small enough the bullet swages down that small. Worst offender was .451-.452" into a .454" throat and .453" groove. Point blank they shot sideways.

I have a very similar one! Amazing revolver, truly one of the best combinations of barrel length, grip, sights, etc. You will be very happy with that fine acquisition.

I searched far and wide for a "FA" equivalent DA to no avail. My solution was to have Bowen rechamber a .44 Alaskan and put an Anaconda .45 barrel on it. Sweet revolver, wish I'd had it done years ago.

I have revolvers chambered for 500 WE and 500 JRH. I load the exact same powder and bullet weight for both. You will not see any difference in performance between the calibers and you can always make cases yourself from 500 S&W brass.
If all you want is a 500 full length case I'd suggest you send your gun to JRH and have him fit you a 500 JRH cylinder.

That turned out really well! Looking forward to the range report.

I fully support your quest for the less popular calibers. They can be the most rewarding to explore. I suppose when I said Big Bore I really meant the full custom conversions. For some reason I thought David had stopped taking orders on those. He made my first custom and it's a real sweet packing pistol.
Also, I will say that many of my .45 and up cartridges are loaded to moderate recoil. I don't spend much time shooting the T-Rex loads but still enjoy them occasionally.

Congratulations on your new build. I wish David was still taking big bore work, he makes wonderful revolvers.

My standard Ruger level load is 20.5 gr 296 with a 350 gr slug, 22 gr should be just fine with a 300 gr bullet.

Mr. Bradshaw, it does drop several inches at 100 yards. I make my life easier by using a large enough plate so I can aim at the very top.

Had some fun on the rifle range with this little guy, very easy to make hits two handed. Much less success one handed, I need to practice my trigger control. The narrow trigger is slightly different than what I normally use on a Ruger or FA.

First 100 yard range trip was fun! Need to practice my one handed shooting, but two hands proved fruitful.

Finally got a chance to shoot my lightweight SAA and .45 Colt Super Redhawk at the rifle range. Not bad for the first outing with both of these at 100 yards. I never went 6/6 with the Super but I'm sure I will improve with more trigger time.
Loads were 230 gr at around 850 fps in the SAA and 350 gr at 1,100 fps in the SRH.

Started poking through some load data tonight, will be working up a 395gr load for it soon.
