$3500 is a lot of money but if you study what that gun really is you will see that it’s a bargain.

Blaming Remington's problems on push feed is a little off the mark. Your preference may be for CRF but for nearly fifty years the guns used to shoot the most dangerous animal, man, has been push feed, from the USMC M40 to the M1, M14, M16, and AK47. The problem at Remington is that a bunch of NY money guys bought it that try to make money for themselves and their stockholders at any cost to local economies and peoples lives. Our perception of their actions is jaded by our heritage of guns and our passion for guns. The same thing has been happening in the car business for even longer. Ask your classic car guy buddies. Corporate America only cares what the masses spend money on. Small alcoves of purists, such as us, have little influence in the scheme of things.

Well, if you look at the bid history, it's pretty obvious where it's going.

I think it's wishful thinking on the sellers part. I never understood the added value of consecutive serial numbers other than its cool. It may have value to a collector but I don't see it in modern firearms.

I talked to John about that gun while we discussed my 41 Special. That is his in house CCH. It's a very nice revolver.
That fellow that bid early on that gun is probably in for a big surprise in the last hours and minutes.

I am a Ringler Leather fan. He makes a Linebaugh design holster and a Tom Threepersons holster. His backlog is about 8 weeks.. I have two of his Wyoming combination holsters. ringlercustomleather.com/Curtis

Alan isn't working on Rugers these days but there are plenty of good smiths around with relatively quick turn arounds.

I have looked at that gun a few times on GB. With no provenance, there is nothing to indicate who has touched it. The slightly above average person on this board could have done the work to this gun. Everything except the barrel banner removal is bolt on. The throats may be touched or nay have come that way. If I were buying it, I would buy it on the merits of the gun, not on the chance it was done by one of the masters. I have a similar small build Linebaugh in 45 and John marks his.

Do you think they shipped in a cardboard box in 1906?
A cardboard box without a single oil or grease stain....

Ken, those mounts look great, fine craftsmanship. Your local smith is a very accomplished machinist.

Have you thought of good old UNIQUE.... Just looked over on LoadData.com and they have quite a few loads from 900 to 1400 fps with bullets ranging from 285 to 405 grains... I used it in my .475 Linebaugh for light loads... FA 83 6" Montana Bullet Works: 330 LBT/12.0/1060 400 LBT/12.0/1042 420 LBT/12.0/1087 Bob Only on this forum are 420's at nearly 1100 fps, a light load. I shoot 10 gr of Unique under 375-420 gr in my Harton 480 Bisquero. Curtis

They have been listed a long time. Beautiful guns as John's always are.
