Hmmm... so I could shoot 500 Special in JRH, but not the other way around...
or perhaps bigger heavier bullets... although I suspect the JRH handles all the bigger bullets in those chambers???

Hmmm... wondering if 500 S&W dies will shorten up enough to load both the 500 Special & the JRH??? & just to confirm... 500 Linebaugh is .510 not 500 correct as they are 1.4" also

Buy the RCBS dies marked "500 S&W/500 Special." The crimp die is short enough to load all three cartridges. That is the 500 S&W, 500 JRH and 500 Special...

Correct. The 500 Linebaugh is .510, the same diameter as the 50 BMG, but you wouldn't want to use the Browning's bullet. Mobjack Owner of no .50 anything at this time.

Hmmm... may take a different shell holder than the 500S&W / 500 Special??? I'm going to try and clear this up as much as possible though I surely don't have enough experience/knowledge as others. If you buy a 500 S&W magnum/500 S&W special die, it will work for 3 cartridges. 500S&W Mag (1.625" case length), 500 JRH (1.4" case length), 500 S&W Special (1.285" case length). All these take a .500" diameter bullet. All use the same shell holder. The reason you see conversations about the JRH being trimmed down on the head is because the FA's they were originally being converted on couldn't accepted the standard rim diameter (as explained in your quoted text). Other guns (not FA) that were converted to (Rugers, etc) or manufactured (BFR) in 500JRH didn't have to be turned down. If you buy a BFR you WILL NOT have to turn down the case head other than to convert from a 500S&W Mag from 1.625" OAL to 1.4" OAL. Starline did a run for Buffalo Bore of 500JRH brass, I believe you can buy it still from them directly for somewhere around $120 per 100 if you need proper head stamps. Yes Starline still produces 500 Special brass. 500 Special can be shot from a 500JRH, as the JRH is the "bigger" brother of the two. Beware of the nomenclature assigned to these big guns. The 500 Linebaugh has a smaller brother, 50 Special, and a bigger brother 500 Linebaugh Maximum. These all accept a .510" bullet.

so... the smaller rim on the JRH ( done for the FA revolvers ) all JRH has these smaller rims??? but it's not smaller enough to where it's excessively loose in the 500 S&W shell holder???
I like a nice tight fitting shell holder... is there one out there specifically for the JRH???

Once I get this all figured out... & I do like properly headstamped cases, as well as cases that fill the chamber... if those are in fact available from Starline, I'll be "pulling the trigger" on a 5.5" barrel Bisley BFR I did e-mail Starline to see if I can get 250-500 cases if I buy this revolver

No..... The 500 JRH is the SAME RIM size as the 500S&W Mag and 500 S&W Special. It's only ever turned down specifically for use in FA guns that were converted. They do not come like that from the factory. It's not speced like that from the factory. The 500JRH is a turn key firearm to reload/shoot once you trim it down to the correct, 1.4" OAL for all firearms excluding FA conversions. Don't even look at or read about the 500JRH in a FA gun if you don't plan to get one. You're only confusing the situation since it's a special case ONLY FOR FA firearms. Also starline won't make you brass. I've tried. You can buy them from Buffalo Bore directly. www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=166
