Yup, I beleive Colt stopped using it because more people were getting hurt with it in the gun than without it.

Contender, I am sorry for the tragety that has struck the citizens of North Carolina and your sons agency in particular. As a career LEO I know how your son feels having been thru this several times. Thoughts and prayers are with your son and his co-workers as they struggle to move forward from this incident.

I carry a Ruger Lightweight Commander, but in the Nightwatchman dress. Like the gun alot. Switched a couple things out. Commanders are short stroke 1911's unlike Govt. and Officers models. Switched to a flatwire setup but without a full lenth guide rod. I like to pinch check my 1911's, one's that I carry any way. The grip safety will eat you up! The chamber was like most modern 1911's...Short, fixed that with a couple twists of a reamer. Ruger may have been late to the 1911 party, but they pretty much got the guns right!

Well blackend stainless aka blued is nothing new. I happened to be scrubbing my cylindern face after shooting some old swaged lead bullets and found out when the color on the cylinder started to lighten up.

I also have one of those. Remember before you purchase grips that your gun is a round butt. Also your gun is blued stainless. It is not a carbon steel gun.

AWP, it is "The" thing in classsic division in ICORE. 9mm. is the go to in USPSA. The equipment race is always running. I want to try . the .38 Short Colt brass but I will lose alot in classic class due to inability to use moon clips in that class.

I have been carrying a Ruger Light Weight Commander Nightwatchman on the job for the past year. A lot of gun for the money.

Well............My solutioun too light actions for fast double action shooting K-Frame rimfires has always and still is wide target hammer for mass and smooth trigger face. Use stone to polish insides (Carefully on your MIM'ed parts) and do not go to far with the mainspring. I still shoot revolvers against semi-auto's in Steel Challenge once in a while. Is that hammer made of tungsten?

Dont have any experiance with new S&W 648 but I have a Model 48, 6in. Shot it some, shot a couple of squirells (very loud in the woods). I think if you can grab up some ammo while its availible, get one and enjoy!
