That is odd....i would look down the barrel, check the lugs and feet for damage as well as the slide stop.

Try your load with a Rainer (I Think...) 185gr. Hollow base RN. Easy to load into the chambers and shoots surprisingly well!

I have run into a couple over the years that had the rear of the cylinter and extractor star milled down and were set up to shoot .45 Auto Rim. Cylinder throats and bore sizes all over the place, not to mention the notorious shallow rifling in the bbl.

As rmj52 stated the flat bottom or small radius firing pin stop will make a big difference by slowing the unlocking of the gun. I believe I have put 23lb. stainless mainsprings into my guns.

18lbs. is standard for .45ACP Commanders. I would stay away from shock buffs in a Commander. The Commander is a short stroke gun. By that i mean that the slide does not travel as far to the rear as a Govt. Model or Offficers Model. I am a big beliver of flat wire spring conversion in .45 ACP Commanders. Either the Nighthawk setup if you like full lenth guide rods or Wilson Combat makes a Commander flat wire guide rod and sells the flat wire springs. The right setup will minumize frame battering and most importantly.......Be reliable!

Come on Axehandle...... Did you find that gun, or did it find you? I worked in a large gunshop in the early 90's. I am still amazed how many guns "Found" me. I am just as suprised how many guns I could buy and how small my take home money was. It's a terrible habit. I am trying to cut back....but not trying too hard.

This is good info! I want to clean the cylender on a 329. I was going to try a soak in fuel injector cleaner.

I have one. I custom Ruger built by GreTan Rifles, tight necked and set up for the 35gr. Vmax. It will shoot very well and has a very good chamber. Was a gift from a good friend that is no longer around. I did not feel up to shooting it for a couple of years. Now it is a favorite and reminds of my friend and makes me smile. He would be happy to see me enjoying this gun. Great cartridge to load and shoot!

I am impressed that Bleeping pistol company did not buy the contract out from under Vortex!

when I was loading and shooting 7x30 Waters, I had a T/C 14in. bbl. The chamber was loose in the back end. Full power loads always expanded the case webs enough to require FL resizing.

Overkill is under rated! If that deer had been bedded down in a concrete bunker, you would have been ready for the shot!
