I have had a 6in.one with TT,TH, TG's. nice gun. i also have a matching Mod.17. I like the Mod.48 alot, but the muzzle blast is a bit much in the squirell woods.

I have also been thinking about a 45-90 rifle, but for more practical reasons. I came into a bunch of new Starline Brass, Norma Brass, and paper patched bullets. Enough reason to pick up another gun for me....

There is a lot of hype over hunting bullets. Deer dont wear body armor or bed down in bunkers, at least where I hunt. Lead balls and pointed sticks were killing them just fine until the internet came along. It's not cool to hunt a animal any more you have to shoot if from another zip code. Having said that, I always prefer 150gr. bullets by Sierra in 30-30, .308, 30-06. I do like Nosler Ballistic Tips also. I really dont see the need for high BC's and Strongly constructed bullets for deer. Well... not normal sized whitetail anyway. My .2 cents......

Kevin Keith, would you share information on the holsters maker? Nice setup by the way!

I would try and locate some Federal 125gr. JHP. Gold Standard for years in L.E. To bad the offenders that fell victim to it cannot vouch for the effectiveness of the load.

It is a nice gun at a great price! I would not call it rare since the gun is still in current production. Standard weight .17 Hornet is on my short list of wants. Already have full setup for reloading and cleaning. For what its worth....I would prefer .17 Fireball.

Good topic! I am researhing the scout scope market myself. Recently got a 18in. stainless GSR. Leupold has a new scout scope with a illuminated retecle. Heavy and the eye relief makes it a intermediate relief scope. Other than the low powered LER scopes that pretty much leaves the Burris and the Vortex. I will probably go with the Burris because of my history with Burris and the reputation that this scope has gained in actual use. Just my 2 cents.....

August 15th. for me. Favorite type of hunting. I enjoy it even more after deer season. Cold air and less leaves in the tree's. .22LR in Rifle or handgun, .17 Mach 2 in Rifle.

Back in the 80's I shot with a guy at a public range. He cast zinc bullets to shoot at hi velocities out of his carry pistols. A Star PD in .45ACP and a H&K P7 PSP in 9mm. Chonograph's were not common then but after looking at some of his fired brass, I made sure we were on opposite ends of the firing line.
