Skeeter Skelton bought a 7 1/2" Colt in 32-20 as his traveling gun on the way home when he got out of the military. Owning this one puts you in fine company.

Factory loaded Cowboy Action Loads always worked fine in the one I used to own.

Could it be recoil fatigue after 2 or 3 shots? The general shakiness after a couple big boomers can start messing with groups and the louder and harder your handgun is the sooner it will show up.

I bought Fermin's all brass sight for my Single 7 and it's a great front sight. I could have gone with a standard front sight but I decided to give this one a try and it's a great sight.

My 45 he built me had a pearlescent blue glow to it the day I picked it up from his shop. After 10 or so years of use, it caries scratches and is no longer that pearlescent blue. I think John would approve if he could see it today. I had a blued Phillips and Rodgers 500 Linebaugh that I managed to drop into the chest cavity of a moose that I was field dressing in the dark. I used a paste wax made for guns shortly before I went hunting though so it saved the finish. I wasn't able to do any cleaning on the gun until the next day either, so the wax is a good protector for blued rifles.

I almost bought a Mod. 35 years ago. It looked great from one side but when I turned it over I saw that someone had relieved the rear of the trigger guard, not the front, for access to the trigger while wearing a glove, I think. Some people really do view their fine firearms as mere tools.

unfortunately it's not uncommon with rimfires, that require a stronger hammer spring to dent the rim sufficiently... primers seem to be easier to dent, & thus require less spring to be reliable... the more main spring, the harder it is to get that nice trigger we all like I'm not disagreeing with your point but I've tried other lever action 22s that have better triggers, even good triggers. A Henry youth model, a Winchester 9422M, Ruger 96 rimfire and a Marlin 39. They all have better triggers than the Browning.

Can anything be done about the trigger on a BL-22? I like the rifles, the light weight the magazine tube clip, but I don't like the trigger pull. My local gunsmith says he doesn't work on them. Any ideas?

I wonder if the cylinder throats are oversized on it? That was an issue with Smith & Wesson 45 Colts from that era. If so, I'd leave it unfired and see what it pulls in on gunbroker and find a good shooting one.

How big a piece of mastodon tusk does it take to make some grips, measured from top to bottom? Does it matter if the tusk is checked, like splitting lengthwise?

I owned a Taurus pump action in 45 Colt for a while and it was fun to shoot. I only used cowboy action loads in mine and it fed, shot and ejected the empty cases fine. My gun had a rifle length barrel and mag tube. I don't remember any issues with it. I had the idea that for a practical reason for owning it I could hunt snowshoe hares or grouse but I never did. It looked good, worked fine and I probably should have kept it.
