A couple of guys at the gun show told me that you should be careful of the front sight on the Freedom Arms mini revolvers as they sometimes fall off when you shoot them. This was as I was buying a Freedom Arms mini in 22 long rifle.

The LCRx has the potential to be a great kit gun with it's adjustable sights and finish that's more durable than blue steel. It just came along about 35 years too late for me. I saw one of this model at our local gun show this weekend and liked it. If it had been a 22 Magnum I would have been sorely tempted, but at 545 bucks I was able to resist. I liked the weight and the sights, and the action seemed smooth. I already have some 22s.

This has to be one of the first times someone has defended himself against an Alaska Brown Bear successfully with a 44 Magnum. I remember an article from years ago in Alaska magazine talking about your chances of being mauled to death by an "enraged wounded bear" increasing exponentially if you were ever to shoot one in a defense situation with a 44 Magnum. This man is the sort you want to have with you when serious danger is about to happen.

I'd like to add a 44mag m83 to my collection. It'll happen someday. With FA backlog so long these days I might just order one and start putting money in a jar I bought a Model 83 in 44 Magnum 3 or 4 years ago and it was a good decision. The ammo is more affordable but more important with less recoil it's easier to shoot well. It's the most accurate 44 I own.

Berryman's spray can carburetor cleaner will do the trick.

How long did Ronnie have it for? My local smith has had my Vaquero and Ronnie Wells gripframe for a long time with no progress on it.

I'd like to try one of these rear sights, but probably won't unless they can be used with the early Single Sixes and their front sights.

My friend bought one of the SP 101s when they first came out. His had green inserts in the grips. I remember Massad Ayoob calling them "Pocket Rockets."

That muzzle break was surprisingly effective. It broke the barrel right off the gun.

I remember Hal Swigget's article on his stainless DW 22 Magnum from back in the 80s. His had wood grips with really handsome grain so he left them on the gun and he didn't send it back after his review but sent a check instead.

$1500 is the starting price range I usually see 454 Freedom Arms Model 83s offered for here in Alaska. The ones that are priced higher tend to stay with the sellers, at least with the ones that I see for sale.

I saw one of these in a wood presentation case and two cylinders. if there was a third cylinder I didn't pay close enough attention to notice it. It was in excellent condition, shiny and I think just as it came from the factory. If I'd seen it last fall when I had more cash I could have bought it.

Nice gun Axe... Have one just like it that someone did a beautiful action job on. They also milled off the front sight and put a Patridge with a while dot in along with two dot rear blade. Added a 651 .22 Magnum cylinder and it's all one could want as a woods wondering gun.. Bob Where did you find the 22 Magnum cylinder? That sounds like a useful addition to a Model 63.
