Today was the day that I had to empty the long gun safe at my brother in laws place and load up all the reloading components. AS I was pulling the various long guns out I saw a long barreled tube magazine gun sticking up in the back row. As I worked my way to the back of the safe by loading the guns in front into the truck, I was surprised to see that the long gun was not a lever gun as I had imagined but actually a pump rifle along the lines of the Lightening. AS I held the gun and turned it over to find the makers marking I saw that it was made by Taurus and was chambered in 45 Colt. I admit to not being very well versed on the Taurus line of firearms but I had no idea they produced such a rifle. Once I got back home and got everything unloaded I did a little research on the gun and apparently it is no longer produced but what reviews I could find were quite favorable. I guess the company had brought the gun out in hopes that it would take off in the Cowboy action shooting game and they offered it in blued, case colored and bright stainless like this rifle is made. Luckily for me, the pump style rifle has never done much for me personally so I don't need to be worried about figuring out how to buy it. Now the little Winchester 92/22lr and the matching Winchester 94/22mag guns? Those are another story!

I have wanted one for a while. I think it would make a dandy little carbine for home and yard protection. I currently have a 357 lever gun for that type of work, but I can believe the little pump gun would be sweet.

MSRP when new was $1000. There is one on Guns International. A 26" C45 Taurus stainless pump. They want $1100.

I have one of those as well, in .45 Colt and it runs fine, but of course I dont insist mine run at warp 9 like the CA guys, but it works for me and is accurate as well. Mine loves 10grs of HS-6 behind the 250 XTP bullet. There are a few on GB right now and lately I have seen them go for well under a grand. Those GI guys always ask more than stuff sells for on GB.
Next week I am picking up another one, a Cimarron/Pedersoli carbine in .44-40 Win which I am really looking forward to.
My question for those in the know is what power level should we consider these modern replicas to be in? More like a '73 Winchester or a '92 Winchester, or somewhere in between?

JT, per my question above, what do you reckon the proper power level is for these replica Colts?

Factory loaded Cowboy Action Loads always worked fine in the one I used to own.
