... I think they should of stretched the 25 and the 32 long ago and slip em into a target style pistol, preferably along the lines of the Ruger MK’s. That'd be sweet too! You wouldn't need too much power tho, but I think more than the 25 usually provides. I'm all for this stuff, for the fun of it. But they're stuck trying to market it to the wisbang tactical defense crowd.

In a 32 H&R or 327 I wonder if a moon clip conversion would allow you to shoot the 30 SC also. In the old days, self defense shootings mostly involved just a couple of shots, 1 or 2 attackers, a bunch of misses and everyone runs away in the end. Now you're seeing more people prep for the possibility of being stuck in a riot/protests and getting their car mobbed. For these situations people are looking for higher capacity options in the cab that help them clear a way to something with 30 rounds and extra magazines in the trunk. I doubt it. The rim combined with moon clips would be too thick.

I think this is a bit of desperation from S&W. Their Shield model is getting clobbered by the P365 and the Hellcat. Instead of admitting the product is behind, they blamed the caliber?

I see it as a continued move to the market. Here the Shield EX in 9 and 380 outsell every comparable bottom feeder on the wall in multiples. The lady friendly aspects of the EX platform makes it appeal to ALL new shooters. The Shield PLUS and now the CSX will pull in even more. Not to say the SIG and Springfield aren't fine hardware but combine the sales of both and the S&W EZ easily outsells them. Originally had personal concerns about the durability of the S&W but they have proven themselves over and over. Our range guns get shot all day every day and they run flawlessly.

It looks to me like this is aimed at the female CCW market, which as we all know has really expanded in the last couple of years... I'll not be particularly surprised if the cartridge takes off & firearms so chambered end up selling well.

I am a big 32 cal fan but I don’t get this one. Especially in something like a full sized 1911.
I realize they basically took a 32acp lengthened it enough to not chamber in 32acp and run it at high pressure. In a small defensive guns I sort of see a reasoning for very small stature people with the light recoil but beyond that?
In any 1911 it would be needlessly oversized, heck of a lot of fun to shoot but not something to carry for self defense in my never humble opinion.
Of course this is coming from someone with 4 or 5 32/327 mag revolvers that I carry most of the time when I run around the wood in summer so…

Agreed on the full size 1911...But, IF Browning were to chamber their awesome little 3/4 scale 1911 model in this cartridge, I'm absolutely guaranteed to own one!

If standing alone I can see some merits to the cartridge. But I fear it will suffer a constant comparison gauntlet much like the 32mag/327 continually fought from the 357/ 38spl. crowd. Especially if marked to the tacti-cool disciples. Time will tell if it is "good enough" to survive that. I guess it largely depends on if creative weapons are designed around it. A longer barreled target pistol or a small semi-auto carbine might be kinda cool.

Especially if marked to the tacti-cool disciples. That seems to be its entire purpose…

I am more on the flip side of this. A nice Small Game/Target Auto would be slick. Totally opposite of tactical, but won't be marketed that way.
A 5.5-6.5" Target Auto or Ruger PC Carbine would be slick.
For defense, I just can't see a benefit.
I just don't know when we'll see a substantial amount of ammo available. It's not easy with well established calibers right now.

So much potential, love the idea of a target gun or carbine!
