I've been busy getting ready for Africa, so I haven't been posting much (But I have been stopping by and reading when I get a few minutes here and there). Anyway, had to move the leverguns to the BIG safe to make them harder to carry off while I'm away, so while I had them out I took a photo. It's not a great picture. I've had the pleasure of fostering other leverguns but these are the ones I've decided to keep... Wichester 9422 trapper (w/ Large Loop Installed)(.22LR) Winchester 94AE Trapper (W/ large Loop Installed)(.45 Colt) Winchester 94AE (.30-30 Win.) Winchester 9422XTR (.22 Mag.) Marlin 1894LTDSS (.357 Mag) (Not Mine....I Swear ) Marlin 1895 LTD. II (.45-70 Govt.) Marlin 336 Cowboy (.30-30 Win.)(Converted to pistol grip) Marlin 336 (.35 Rem.) Marlin 1894C (.357 Magnum) (Converted to pistol Grip) I'll post better pictures when I get back with more info on each. Take Care, Stump Oh....and if anyone is thinking about visiting the house while I'm gone.....be careful around the dogs and the crazy lady staying at the house ...And... my "Shoot first - Ask questions later" neighbor. ;D ;D ;D

That's a great looking levergun family. Thanks for posting the pic. My favorite of that bunch is the .45-70 Marlin. I'd like to land one of those one day.

Nice Rifles Ron!!!
I just edited mine, I had 1 too many "I"s in the LTD part. It's the second Davidson's run so it's a LTD.II. The LTD III had an 18" barrel (Had one of those too, but long ago parted with it). I like this LTD.II a bunch. Charger, if ya make it out here someday, let me know and we'll make some noise with it!
Take Care,
Stump

Ron,
Who did those middle 4 rifles? I really like the synthetic stock and scout scope.
Nice lever actions.

How do ya'll actuallly like those big loops? I have gone back and forth over trying one, but never have. Any advantages? Disadvantages?

Markbo,
I like the Factory Marlin curved lever the best. I'll be honest and tell you I had the large loops installed for looks (It's the John Wayne romantic in me). If they were leverguns I carried on a regular basis, I'd have the original levers put back in. They work fine, but the standard levers are faster to cycle (for me).
The DRC, Brockman and WWG levers are all a bit smaller than the factory winchester loop, so they are probably faster with gloved hands or those with huge mits.
Get your guns set up how you want while you can, Life's Short sometimes!!!
Happy Shooting!!!

I've always wanted to try out a large loop levergun, too. I used to cock my BB gun like that when I was a kid. ;D One day, I'll have to get one & have fun with it.

Since you converted that Marlin to a pistol grip would that mean I could convert one to a straight grip?

Since you converted that Marlin to a pistol grip would that mean I could convert one to a straight grip? Yep! It's just a lower tang and lever swap. You can find the parts and do it, have Marlin do it or have custom smith do it. Normally it's a piece of cake.

The middle rifles were all done by Wild West Guns. The top one was a Guide Gun with the porting that I had made into their Co-Pilot. The second is a 336 in 30-30, third is a 1894 in 44 and the last is a 39M in 22. All had the big loop fitted, roll mark and parkerized. The Co-Pilot was of course made into their take down gun, a real masterpiece. I probably wouldn't go to that big loop now. I think the one made by Davis accomplishes the same thing and is a little smaller and probably a bit quicker. Having said that, they still work really well, particularly with gloves. The 39 by the way is the only one they had ever done, at least till that time. Ron
