Wow, very cool! I've never seen a large frame Burgess in the flesh. Have you hunted with either of them? Two/three years ago a friend shot a nice black bear with a 40-65 Whitney Kennedy.

Please share if you do get the chance to hunt with it, I love seeing the old guns doing what they were meant to do.

cable if that's "a fair number", how many are considered a whole bunch? My favorite, regardless of what Ashley Emerson thinks of leverguns and glass: 1894C 357 by awp101, on Flickr Marlin 1894C .357

what caliber ? that's a handy looking little rifle. Thanks! It's in the mighty .357 Magnum. Eyeballed a matching .44 Mag at the show Saturday but couldn't (wouldn't) pay the tariff to replace the one I used to have.

Two of my favorites: Marlin 1894P shorty. I added Ashley sights and the Wild West trigger, both of which are huge improvements over the factory equipment. Lots of shooting and stoning, and even more dry firing have really smoothed it up. I haven't reduced the "hump" but it doesn't bother me any longer. I am definitely in the minority, but I actually like the safety on this rifle. Heresy, I admit, but my thumb rests right atop the button in my firing grip and depressing it on target acquisition is part of my manual. This rifle has traveled tens of thousands of miles with me, across the country in all directions, coast to coast. It is so handy, easily disguised, and non-objectionable, in addition to packing a punch, that it is my go-to "traveling gun". My range loads used to be Keith and Thompson bullets over HS6 or 296, but I found the Ranchdog .432 275gr. bullets work so well that I have switched to them pretty much exclusively. For non-recreational use I keep it loaded with Hornady 300 gr. XTP. Browning B92 in .357. I missed on one of these about fifteen years ago, for sale in the old King's Gunworks in Glendale. They wanted the unbelievable sum of $600, so I passed, and kicked myself for five years until I found this one, in "new but used" condition for just about the same price. It's pretty nicely made, but the action was really stiff when I got it, and the trigger pull must have been near ten pounds. Honestly, I was disappointed. But I stuck with it, cleaned it up a bit, fired it a bunch, and again, dry fired it even more and it's pretty respectable now. I haven't done too much load development with this one because my boys love it so much I hardly get any trigger time with it anymore.

No kidding! My 1894P doesn't have wood near as nice - I'm jelly. I don't have any pics of my 1894P, but here is one of my 1894SS. I also have a Browning B92 in 44 Mag, Marlin 336 in 35 Rem and 30-30, and a Puma 92 in 454. Shameless plug - the 1894SS is for sell on RF.
