I'm with Fowler on this one, you can push a 32 magnum pretty hard! Brass is easy to find & a can of powder goes a long way. Having said that I have several 327's and a Buckeye so I like them too! No the 32 cylinder isn't rechambered. Also have a 16-4 S&W 32 magnum, it won't get surgery either.

leftysixgun, now that's funny! I'm like you, if I drank a glass of any kind of group tightner I'd also be off for two weeks straight.

What was it that Skeeter Skelton liked to drink, can't remember, something MeKenna?

It's been 45 years since I drank any group tightner but I do remember one night at my friends deer lease in Texas, Yippee! At least I remember part of it.

Hunted strictly with handguns for many, many years. Pretty sure the last time I shot an big game animal with a rifle was in the late 80's. I've always wanted to hunt Canada but never will be cause of their handgun restrictions. My best year ever was 11 animals in 5 states, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Texas & Utah. I live in Idaho & I'm only an hour from Utah & Wyoming & just over 2 hours from Montana so it makes it pretty easy to move around & hunt other places. Calibers of choice have been the 357 Maximum (several times) 41, 44, 45 & 480.

Great story, what took you so long! Just kidding but the 357 is very capable of taking deer just as you laid it out, the right bullet, the right distance & dang good shooting! I have that same mold & it's a dandy, again, congratulations on a very large doe. And I like your taste in leather!

That old Gould 330 gr HP bullet style has been around for a long, long time. I bought one back in the early 70's when I bought one of the first Ruger #1's and it was a doozy! Lots of people have necked it down to 45 & shot it in their six guns, pretty sure Elmer Keith did it, John Taffin probably would know. I remember it it pretty hard on both ends with a case full of 3031 in that Ruger #1.

To me dry firing is like kissing your sister, I would just as soon watch someone else play chess. I want to shoot & I'm able to do so & will be able to for a long, long time. Just my opinion but this primer thing is kind of suspicious, I recently seen on another forum where 80 tons, yes I said tons of loaded ammo was being loaded on an aircraft to be flown to Slovenia & it was the fourth load! When I was in Africa recently you could buy any bullet, primer or brand of powder that you wanted, they had it on the shelf, anything.

Awfully good of you to do that, a lot of Texas folks are that way! I'm sure it was very much appreciated!

Another +1 for Mackay Sagebrush's ammo & also for his shooting skills, he's a very accomplished shooter, trust me. I haven't actually shot his ammo but if he builds it, it's top shelf or it doesn't go out the door because he's been there & done that. He's a real snake with a S&W, if you were in a bad spot he's someone you would love to have with you. You usually get what you pay for with anything, in this case you're probably getting more!

I've always used JB Weld but first you need to take a small dremel tool or something similar & rough up the inside a bit so that the JB Weld will stay in there, if you don't it will eventually pop out. It works great.

I've made a lot more of them over the campfire than I've ever made in the kitchen, the trick is to get the coals even underneath. Not to many underneath & about twice as many on the lid. You want a lid with a "lip" on it so it will hold your coals or charcoal. Watch it pretty close the first few times you do this until you get your heat right so you don't burn it. Most people burn the first couple, it doesn't take a lot of coals once that oven is hot but you must have a fair amount on the lid to get a good crust.
Any of you ever bury a good dutch oven roast with taters, carrots & onions. Completely bury it?

About 2 months before leaving for Africa my buddy bought 2,000 lbs from Mayco Metals, much cheaper as Bill mentioned & it's very good, certified alloy.
