What a nice example of a custom Smith. Refined and potent!

I'll have to take a pic, I used Jeweler's rouge and it buffed out beautifully. Doesn't look like the same 357 and no nickel lift. Thanks for all the leads.

Thank you David, my farmer friend also purchased an American LaFrance Firetruck, built in the 50s. Hauls his grandkids in the local town celebration parades. I will mention the info gleaned from your post to my friend. BTW Happy Holiday Season to you.

A friend of mine showed me a early 586 6" that is nickel plated. The revolver has had the snot shot out of it, and the nickel is cloudy on the barrel rib. The cylinder has all kinds of powder residue on it, baked on.
What is a good polish/cleaner for a nickel gun? Something that won't hurt the surface.
Action is in excellent condition and the sideplate has never been removed.
Appreciate your help on this.

Big PPP fan, but not a lot of bucks. Like VZ G10 on my working DA guns and burl walnut on my Bisley 44 Spl.

I need a source for RIMZ, used when I had the 625 but couldn't find them at Midway or Brownells? Did I miss them?

That 25-2 is at the gunsmiths' having a new front ramp of proper height being pinned in. Anticipation rising. I do a lot of walking in the surrounding countryside and I've seen some mammoth "dog" prints in mine after backtracking on a dead end dirt road. We had wolves in here a few years ago until they decimated the local moose population then they moved on. To paraphrase Clint Smith this old Smith is comforting to have along.

That load I pictured the 225SWC will be a general purpose carry load, have to shoot it first. Gun headed out for a new front sight, and then we will get down to serious load development.
Years ago I had a 625 and it was the most accurate revolver I ever owned, I would like to get close to what that gun would do. I'm with Axehandle, at this point in time, moonclips are a pain to load, the demooner helps with the unloading.

Loaded up 50 of these today for my S&W Model 25-2 4' 5.5 GRS OF 231, STANDARD PRIMER. 225 SWC . Shoot them for group and then Chrono. In process of adding a much needed new sight from the mother ship.

Look at VZ Grips I have them on several Smith Ns' and they work great. Like them better than Hogues, Ahrends, Altamont or Eagle. The Model 320s are fairly smooth and the Tactical Diamonds are a rough texture. Excellent fit and finish,

Good work, like to see those old Smiths shine, Tyler T would probably shrink that group and still be "old skool".
