Just sayin......... i did shoot at 1000 yards, no i did not group 10"...it was about 10'!!!!!! i won't do that again with a hunting rifle!!!!

my accuracy drops at 30 yards. 25 yards, i do it at the bench at 3/4", off hand it goes around 1 3/4 - 2 1/2". at 30 yards, then it began to tear itself apart. i had a stroke several years ago, and it left me with only one arm/leg. so i'm able to shoot it one handed, the left one. (i'm cross eyed dominant and the left hand is my shooting hand) anyway, it doesn't matter whether if my 44 is benched or not, i can only do 2-3 shots at 30 yards(6" target). the other shots(3 - 4) go where ever. i know its not the revolver or its load(ruger sbh 4 5/8" barrel 44sp with 250gr mihek hp{40 to 1} under 7.0gr of unique). i know its not my eyes, 20/20 in the right, 20/15 in the left. i'm going to keep on trying 30 yards, but 25 yards is good enuff for me and the deer!!!

meh, i shoot further than that. i do 4 miles with a open sighted ruger sbh(4 5/8" barrel) in 44 mag.....i wish!!!! i don't go above 300 yards anymore. i've tried 500 yards(which i did somewhat good) and 1000 yards(which was bad...soooo bad), both of them were a 308 in rem 700(1/2" at 100 yards 5 shots) with a 22" barrel(everything came from factory).

the second boolit from the right(220gr wc /.430"/ 44sp) does a .75" at 25 yards(5 shots / bench) and 1 3/4" at 25 yards(5 shots / off hand). it comes from montana bullets works.

i have a hornady auto charge powder dispenser along with a lyman beam scale. the hornady is great, i will do the hornady 15 or 20 times, then i'll use the lyman just too doublecheck it. the hornady has only lied once, .1gr above, and that could have been me.

i was sitting here and i wondered if anyone has used blackpowder in a 500L?
i know that you can use bp in 44 mag/sp, but i never heard that 500L uses bp.

+1 these shoot really well...an I find these folks to be helpful an great product...NO PHONE BUT THEY DO ANSWER E MAIL...and shipped my orders within a day of placement... I do agree the bullets are some great stuff. That said I emailed them over a month ago just to ask a question, and all I've heard is crickets. i too have emailed them 1 1/2 months to ask a question. they emailed me right back.

alright, large pistol primers it is. i was just wondering why starline( www.starlinebrass.com/brass-cases/500-Linebaugh-Brass/ ) says a 500L uses a large rifle primer. i have used win296 with a magnum pistol primer with my 44 mag but i gave it up and i only use lp primer and 44 sp brass. the powders i listed (1100-1300fps in a 23" barrel) should be enough(temp 20-70deg). in my state, PA, i have seen -7 to 80 deg on deer season. 20deg, i'm cold but its endurable. 15deg i'm really cold and i'm starting to wonder how good it can be under my bed. 10deg or less, i look out my window, sigh, and then i go next to my pellet burner and smile .

as soon as i can get the money, i will order a tc encore that is a 500L with a 23" heavy barrel from MGM. i want to try a 450gr lfn gc(montana bullets) with unique, tite group and 2400. also i should get hs-6(don't have it yet). i will use the 500L starline brass. i've been going over which primers( 500 Linebaugh Load Data | Single-Actions which i like) do i use? i've liked my cci 300(lpp) when i load up my 44sp. i also have winchester and federal lrp(i only hunt with them, i don't do competitive shooting anymore). i don't have any pistol magnum primers because i haven't shot my 44 mag in some years. i don't have any magnum rifle primers either. so should i do lp or lr or magnum(lp or lr) primers in my tc encore?

that will be a good one. as soon as i get the money together(i'm disabled from a stroke), MGM will have a 500L with a 23" heavy factory barrel with open sights. a 450gr cast boolit going 1200-1300fps will take anything on. i want to use a 525gr cast boolit to shoot too, cans, bottles, targets... I have thought a lot about an MGM barrel. Just not certain what to order. I've thought 18-20" would be about ideal but I may go shorter. i have two MGM barrel(20 vartarg and 6.5 creedmoor) that are 16 1/4" long. i got them both because i wanted to try them as a pistol but i want them as a rifle too. the pistol phase worn out and now i have them both as a rifle. 20 vartarg they both are sub 1/2moa at 100 yards but they have some drawbacks. muzzle blast is probably number 1, while the noise level is number 2. i figured out that the muzzle blast should be away from your eyes, i figure(i say that alot, don't i ) that a barrel should be 21-22" long. i use my encore in a 444 marlin with a 23" MGM barrel that saves me from muzzle blast. the noise level, well you have to live with it, just make sure you use ear plugs. i will replace both of my 16 1/4" barrels, but thats another project.

Yeah I can get one built for $370 and up. That might be the route I take. that will be a good one. as soon as i get the money together(i'm disabled from a stroke), MGM will have a 500L with a 23" heavy factory barrel with open sights. a 450gr cast boolit going 1200-1300fps will take anything on. i want to use a 525gr cast boolit to shoot too, cans, bottles, targets...
