Will Berry's plated bullets be ok in the DE 44mag ? I've never used them. Recall warnings, velo maxes and such being mentioned or listed. ? Ooops, see Domino answered this already. Thanks guys. Yeah, they'll work fine. Just don't exceed the velocity max. My 44 Mag DE works best with 240gr. bullets between 1,180 and 1,300 fps. That's where I get best reliability.

I've had a lot of people tell me Mec-Gar 1911 mags are great. My experience has been different. My best experiences are with Wilson Combat 47D, the 7rd Springfield Armory, and the Ed Brown 8rd mags.
I appreciate learning about your 1917 WWI 1911, Mr. Bradshaw. I hope you still have the gun as it sounds pretty flippin' cool!

I have two Tisas in .45 ACP that came with MecGar Mags. I'll put it this way. Since I swapped them with Ed Browns using the mag trade-in deal they have, I haven't had reliability issues.

I have a .45-70 BFR with a 7.5" barrel. It is super accurate and built like a tank. I love that gun. Highly recommend it. I'd go with the .45-70 as ammo and brass are much easier to find than the .444 Marlin.

I had one on my .454 Casull Ruger SRH. I bought it knowing it wouldn't last. And it didn't. The recoil destroyed it. It was alright in terms of function. On a .22 revolver it should be fine.

My Glock 48 had a few issues returning all the way into battery on my reloads. I blame me. Factory ammo has had 0 issues. So, I just need to find the flaw in my method.

I've often wondered why we don't have a 44 Magnum 1.4". Easily accomplished with a FA83 or BFR with the chambers cut deeper. I'm not implying that the cartridges should be loaded full throttle, rather that they could be. I thoroughly believe the 360 DW Cases would hold up better. Honestly, I've never loaded a 454 Casull full throttle. Never really found a reason to... Aria Ballistic Engineering has something like this called the .440 Northwest Express. .44 Magnum with a 1.440" case. It's almost as potent as the .445 SuperMag and they'll convert revolvers for it.

Got a little more info, as I was curious. Thought I'd pass it along:
1. All of their loads can be ordered at lower velocities (or requested) velocities. No minimum quantities. You may have to wait an extra week or two to get ammo that is custom velocity. Make sure when you buy the ammo, put the requested velocity in the memo.
2. They can also load specialty bullets and weights that may or may not even be listed on their site (Minimum order 100 rounds).

I talked to Aria as I was curious on the .500 JRH brass fitting a Model 83, and here's what I was told. They don't turn down the rim for the 83, but they can if asked. They also have a JRH Customer with an 83 that they cut down .500 Automax brass for and it head spaces off of the roll crimp. They trimmed his brass to 1.41" and he has never had issues. I thought that was a neat idea. Hope this is helpful.

I've had a good experience with their ammo so far. Some pretty stout stuff too.

Do you guys get the reliability using supplied mags? Or do you use aftermarket mags? My two in .45 ACP did not function super great with stock mags (Mec Gar) but have been pretty solid woth my Chip McCormick, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, and Springfield Armory mags work well.

I've got 100 I can part with. New from Starline, I was on backorder for not too long, less than 3 months and it shipped March of this year. DM'd
