Here on the southern borderlands most of the day-to-day threat level critters either slither on the ground or walk upright on 2 legs. Most everything else does its best to run away fast as possible. The slithering kind you can just walk away from, and the 2-legged kind are mostly deterred by the simple presence of a gun,,,,,,, mostly. Long roundabout way of saying generally no need for a heavy thumper unless it sounds right for the day. So, either of these two little Charter Arms 32mags will check a lot of boxes. Light and easily ignored, punchy enough with 7 rounds of 100gr.DEWC ammo, nobody's heirloom if damaged or lost and easy to shoot. The Simply Rugged pancake keeps it high and tight and can be invisible with a shirt tail.

That’s a neat looking package. That holster is pretty comfortable wearing inside the waistband too.

appamtnculture - beautiful little piece there! Is that a custom barrel cut down or a stock item from Uberti? I'm thinking custom as I've never seen anything like this from Uberti before (though I do admit I am still a noob here). I have been looking for something just like this with a 2-ish" barrel but have only seen the Heritage Barkeeps and would like something in a bit larger caliber. I'm not knocking the Heritage Barkeep at all, I really like them for what they have to offer and will still likely pick one up because they are so affordable. I know Ruger has their Bearcat in the Shopkeeper model (Lipsey's I think) but those can be hard to find around here, and again I think only available in .22lr (I could be wrong on that one too though :/)

I cut it down and crowned, also hand tuned new USA springs, stripped and shaved down the grip to be thinner and put a coat of linseed oil on the bare wood. I too like the snub barrels and also like the big bore guns. I don't think the Heritage are bad guns, their frames are made from a quality aluminum and handle the 22-Mag round well. The only thing I don't like is the Heritage safety lever, my son has one.

This is something I also wouldn't mind doing on a scaled down sized frame 22, smaller than the Heritage. I think the Bearcat would be a solid option with a 2" barrel. I know they have their Shopkeeper, but I believe that is a 3" barrel.

MackaySagebrush That range couldn't by chance be 18.5 mile south of Salmon could it? Looks familiar. Addendum; Sent an Email.....I thought so.
