Fishing I carry either a .40 Commander or my Ruger 3 1/2" Birdshead. If needed a gator shot will be close and the .40 or .45 will make a decent enough sized hole in the head to not worry so much about shot placement... hopefully :-) DaveB. This fall will be my first hog hunt in a while and I'm reading that they're now pretty thick in the WMA's. I'll likely take my 5 1/2" Blackhawk .45 Colt because shots are closer in the thick stuff than out in the open. Then again if I find shots are a bit longer on day one, maybe I'll switch to the BH Hunter .44. I like three lakes WMA a bit north of Yeehaw Junction. Good luck! I didn't draw a single tag here in NM, may try to find a reasonably priced TX hog hunt.

When at the farm a Glock 20C. If weedeating or running or some other really physical activity I put a s&w shield 9mm in a Fanny pack. When not at farm I usually have a Glock 23 with KKM 357sig barrel. If I need a pocket pistol, I have a titanium Taurus 41mag or the s&w shield 9mm.

My most carried revolver is a 4 5/8" stainless Blackhawk in 45colt with Houge mono-grips. For the past 10+ years I've been using a BFR Bandoleer holster.

I live in a small, rural town so I mostly carry a Walther 9mm because I can find the sights in a hurry. My other option is my Browning Hi Power. The Jeep is usually close by and I have a model 36 S&W in there with full wadcutters & in the lockbox is a 38 Super with 128 gr cast HP's. There's also a Single Seven in there and a TC Contender in 223 in case I decide to leave town for a few minutes. Almost forgot, I also have a Buckeye 32/20 in there stoked with cast HP's also, you just never know.

I have lots of option's. I might well choose my 4" Model 19 no dash. Or often my 5" GP100 .357 if I am carrying my Savage 99 in .308. But if no rifle is Present, One of my 4 5/8ths 44 Specials might be on me, Or in a Chest rig my Redhawk 44 mag 5' Or a 4 5/8ths SBH or 3 screw 41, or beautiful OM flat top 357 from John Powers. But most likely, a 5.5' Bisley .41mag with a red dot. Custom by Tyler Gun works. I don't often carry a very heavy gun on my belt any more cause I have to cinch my belt so tight it hurts my circulation. So a chest or shoulder rig is likely my chosen method...tj

I normally carry a homemade slingshot and a bag of marbles. Served me for years and accounted for several rabbits, squirrels, and ground hogs. Used ball bearings on the ground hogs.

A little sad to say, but I don't get ot into the wood, swamps and mountains any more. But when hunting I carried a Super Single Six in small game season, and a Super Blackhawk in deer season.

For daily carry when out and about, like going to town, I'm almost always packing one of my 1911 CCOs; caliber depends on my whim that day. Around our place here in the hills it's often a revolver; could be a S&W model 29 or, more recently, a Ruger Single Six in .32 H&R. During our bear season, or in BIG bear country, it's a Guncrafter 1911 in 10mm loaded with 200gr hard cast RNFP-GC bullets at 1200 fps+.

For daily carry when out and about, like going to town... >>SNIP<< Going to town... such memories. As much as I disliked New York's politics, I lived upstate near such a small town (8 + miles away in the sticks) there were no traffic lights, four stop signs and a good arm could throw a baseball from one side to the other and never hit the town :-) Going "into town" was a decision only made mandatory by needing ammo, milk, or to meet friends. markwell, In these hectic days, I envy you!
