..so i've got the 500 linebaugh itch and since he did me a good turn once, i called mr jack huntington to discuss a conversion.
..being the good guy he is, he advised me to "wait one" and commenced to describe a recent event (within the last coupla weeks), wherein he shot a factory prototype bfr in 500 linebaugh.
OMIGOSH!
..he assured me he wasn't foolin' - so now i'm trying to get in contact w/mag research - to get on the list!!
..if only they would offer it in a REAL octagon barrel.... 'cause the current one is sorta like taking a girl out on a dinner date - and then watching somebody else take her home...
ANY comments?

Sure wish they would/could take my order. On the other hand, anticipation is the best part of waiting. I wonder if they will use the extra month's time to productize that lovely steel front sight on yours? Also not available right now

yeah, I had a good conversation with them last week, Thursday I think.
the "carry away" was to stand by.
so the logic game comes into play here - they still won't offer a real, full octagon barrel and I will still have to send the gun to JRH for the grip mod (yes, even with the new banana-bisley grip frame)as well as fitting/tune a bisley hammer..
fingers crossed, after the initial rush - I can snag one for less than msrp....

Huntington is not modifying that grip frame as he feels there is no improvement to be made. He can however make you a set of grips that fit your hand better. Huntington has one and is quite fond of the way it handles recoil as well. It is my understanding that these will be made to order from the Precision Center and not regular catalog items.

I think it's great they are offering not so main stream calibers. I personally think I would rather Starline just start selling JRH brassn for my 500 JRH rather than buy one of these in the Linebaugh headstamp. To each is own though and I'm glad those of you who want one will have the opportunity.

Here is an E-Mail I received on the 6th of this month on the debut of the BRF 500 Linebaugh.
I do not have a release date yet but I would say in the next few months.

Great to hear a positive impression from an subject matter expert. Sure wish they could accelerate final testing. Got my cases, load development rounds put together, set up my progressive for running linebaugh (and why not?), all I need is to know my bullet choice has merit so I can get a 4-6 cavity mold and proper top punch, and I'll be GTG for high volume shooting, and boy I can not wait! Looking forward to positive results from their work and rapid transition to unrestricted release.

I'm still working up to being able to shoot a few full-house loads in a row.

it's all relative. High volume for me is 100 in an hour, and that's the end of my day too (for high recoil). Or maybe 150 rounds over a few hours at the outdoor range. And that's a 5 lb scoped BFR which helps alot with recoil.
Noone "warned" me about heavy recoiling revolvers, though common sense plays a small role. Not many shooters out where I am (at least when I was getting started I didn't know any), so I just had to figure it out as I went. By the second month I had sprained my wrist and had to stop shooting for a few months. fast forward almost a decade, my wrists and forearms are iron. Or scrappy/strappy, at least, which is good enough for me.
More likely, I'll tone the linebaugh down a bit. My target bullet is 450 grains. Same weight as my 460S&W which I shoot to 1470 fps. I figure the linebaugh tones me down to 1000-1100, that should help a bunch in the recoil department, depending on what the >20% increase in expansion volume by surface area does.
No matter what, I'll make her a sweetheart. Who needs a matching revolver and lever gun in 45 colt when you can have a matching revolver and safari rifle in two different .510 caliber cartridges?
