No matter what, I'll make her a sweetheart. Who needs a matching revolver and lever gun in 45 colt when you can have a matching revolver and safari rifle in two different .510 caliber cartridges? Can’t argue with that logic!

yesterday at 10:40am whiterabbit said: Sure wish they could accelerate final testing. Got my cases, load development rounds put together, set up my progressive for running linebaugh (and why not?), all I need is to know my bullet choice has merit so I can get a 4-6 cavity mold and proper top punch, and I'll be GTG for high volume shooting, and boy I can not wait! Looking forward to positive results from their work and rapid transition to unrestricted release. it's all relative. High volume for me is 100 in an hour, and that's the end of my day too (for high recoil). Or maybe 150 rounds over a few hours at the outdoor range. And that's a 5 lb scoped BFR which helps alot with recoil. Noone "warned" me about heavy recoiling revolvers, though common sense plays a small role. Not many shooters out where I am (at least when I was getting started I didn't know any), so I just had to figure it out as I went. By the second month I had sprained my wrist and had to stop shooting for a few months. fast forward almost a decade, my wrists and forearms are iron. Or scrappy/strappy, at least, which is good enough for me. More likely, I'll tone the linebaugh down a bit. My target bullet is 450 grains. Same weight as my 460S&W which I shoot to 1470 fps. I figure the linebaugh tones me down to 1000-1100, that should help a bunch in the recoil department, depending on what the >20% increase in expansion volume by surface area does. No matter what, I'll make her a sweetheart. Who needs a matching revolver and lever gun in 45 colt when you can have a matching revolver and safari rifle in two different .510 caliber cartridges? Go for it!! I just got done casting 20lbs of 450gr .512's from a Ballisticast mould. 3 cavity in a 4 cavity iron block. Sweet mould and piles em up quick. 4 or 6 cavity 450gr .512 mould I think would be too much for one mould. 3 cavities heat it up quick with those big boolits. I'd check with Veral at lbtmoulds and look at a 3 cavity in a 4 cavity block. Maybe 4 cavity aluminum would cast nicely. Over 15-16gr HS-6 is 950-1000ish and can be shot one handed all day long from my 5.5" Bisley. It's my "high volume" load as you might say. Very fun to shoot. Follow up with some 540gr at 1100ish and it makes for one great time at the range! I've shot the 450gr up to 1325 which is max. Recoil is what one would expect, stout. I did kill a moose with it though. Probably could have done the same with the 1000fps load. Here's what the recoil looks like....

Is that american holly? If so, how do you like it? No. Dall Sheep horn from a ram I killed in the Brooks Range here in AK. Rob Rowen made the grips.

You're getting me all excited, Whit. My wife may not be too happy in the near future.

Loos good. What do you think about timeline between barrels arriving and SKU ready for us to put in orders? I would call and ask, but I called them on Tuesday and the barrels were not in yet. I don't want to give them the impression I am being impatient (as I call them on a 3-4 week basis since November

.. those barrel blanks only count when they are screwed into a frame.
.. with a cylinder.
