Just something about a 1957 Flattop 44 with honest wear... I must agree, something about the old and cared for .44 Flat Top. Mines a 59 my birth year.

any of them that form and function has not been comprimised or gold plated (echh!) i do tend to lean towards Rugers, but a nice deep blue Schofield is pretty.

For stock, I really like the USFA models. Bowen Custom are so great, in my mind. The lightweight Colt is the ultimate in my opinion: But this slick beauty is real close: Boge posted pics of his Alan Harton 32, and then I had to have one in 32 and a bigger brother in 45 Colt. Boge's 32: My pictures are weak but maybe you can get the idea... this is a 32 H&R mag: And this is a New Vaquero in 45 Colt:

I find these fixed-sighted guns with the S&W adjustables interesting. Now on something like a Bearcat the reason is obvious but is the reason for doing it to a Vaquero purely for aesthetics or am I missing something?

OK and it remains the only choice on a Bearcat or in the days before the Blackhawk but that was 50 years ago so should I assume we do it today for purely aesthetic reasons on a Vaquero since a Blackhawk exists in just about every equivalent size and caliber? ... (and that reason is good enough )

Doug, I wish I'd gone with a Bisley hammer. Very nice pair! I'm glad I did. And as much as I like the hammer on the New Vaquero/Montado, I wish I had gone with the Bisley hammer on the Montado as well. I can't believe how slick the action is on these guns by Alan Harton. Very nice.

I don't know that Hamilton sells those separately, but you could email him and ask. He has always replied to every email I sent him.
