Hate to be a broken record but I shot my John Gallagher 44 Magnum Super Blackhawk with the Potatojudge aluminum grip on it again today and if it does get any better than this, I will have to shoot it to find out. Even full house 240 grain JHP over H110 one handed are easy peasy on the hand; AND I get a consistent grip! I love love love the PJ! Whoever had this before I found it in a neglected corner of a gun store for 650.00 (off memory) had a rounded birdshead grip put on it. ET couldn't heal that wound.
Out of curiosity Ronnie, how many hours (months) of trial and error programming did you put into that before you were happy? Just curious. Again, a MOST EXCELLENT product!

Well, I’m finally going to get a project started with one of Ronnie‘s grip frames. I ordered a bisley Junior Aluminum frame yesterday, and a random walnut set of panels. The revolver in the picture was allegedly built by John Gallagher and is a 50th anniversary 357 mid frame Blackhawk that has had the cylinder window enlarged and a re-chambered large frame new model 357 cylinder installed. It was re-chambered to 44 magnum. Unfortunately, a range rod will not pass through a couple of the chambers, and I am afraid to shoot it in this condition. I have been told by a couple of knowledgeable folks that it should shoot just fine with no issues, but I have decided to just have it re-chamber to 45 colt. Given the mid frame geometry, it will only be able to handle 23K pressure, but it will allow me to shoot long, heavy bullets under that pressure limit, which is nice. I bought a blue Bisley hammer from a forum member, and I have a couple of aggie01 front sight bases, a couple of Tim Barton mini bullseye ejector rods. I will first test out the Bisley Junior on a 44 special, and I will likely try out a K-Todd, as well, but once I figure out which one I want, the above gun will be sent out to either Fink or Tyler to get the work done. A five inch barrel and CCH on the frame, hammer, and loading gate will round things out. I’m so glad there is now a better grip option for my little girly hands! The standard size Bisley frame is Just way too gig for me, and the lightness of aluminum will be a blessing when hiking in the Colorado Rockies. Thanks, Ronnie for offering these grip frames!

I have a couple of questions about these grip frames about my new model blackhawk.
Mine is a standard grip and I want a Bisley grip for it. My Q's are:
Are these frames finished or do they need polishing?
Would standard Bisley grips fit?
Finally is there any additional fitting needed?

I have a couple of questions about these grip frames about my new model blackhawk. Mine is a standard grip and I want a Bisley grip for it. My Q's are: Are these frames finished or do they need polishing? Would standard Bisley grips fit? Finally is there any additional fitting needed? You'd do well to read this entire thread, but if you're short on time: singleactions.proboards.com/thread/34360/fitting-ronnie-wells-grip-frame?page=1singleactions.proboards.com/thread/26528/brass-grip-frames-ronnie-wells?page=22And from the website: "These grip frames are an unfinished product designed for the single action enthusiast who has some basic gunsmith skills or just a deep desire to tinker. Anyone in that category with a file and a roll of sandpaper and a decent amount of patience can fit and install one of these units. They are machined from the finest quality C360 Brass and 6061 Aluminum. Each one of these frames will fit perfectly on the Ruger Blackhawk and Single Six frame or main chassis. Great care has been taken to insure that the holes all align perfectly. The sides are all about .020 thousandths from center line, over the fattest of frames we have compared. The top is adequately taller, to accommodate the tallest that we have compared. You will also notice that the angle on the side is tapered less toward the front than the back so that they will also work on the longer maximum frames. The maximum frame is of course longer than the standard Black Hawk frame, therefore the angle is not as abrupt. However these two materials cut very evenly and with much greater ease than steel. The weight is negligible with the brass, however the aluminum is considerably lighter!"

Thanks Rod, I posted my Q's from a ~3"x5" phone screen and going through a few pages scrolling up/down, expanding, collapsing is frustrating. I feel like a salmon swimming upstream past rocks and eddies and going through 76 pages is intolerable. How millennials prefer this method over a PC is well, I'll stop there :-)
Anyway, when away from home I will not surf the web for similar reasons so your reply was much appreciated.

Since no one has posted anything on here in a while I figured I would post a pic of my baby as a before pic. It is in Ronnie’s most capable hands. My middle finger will be most relieved

My middle finger will be most relieved ***** Beautiful revolver, although my preference for fixed sights on a revolver is limited to belly guns. As you foresee, your hand will find new beauty with a Ronnie Wells gripframme protecting your middle finger. Recently practicing with a Super Blackhawk Hunter. 44 Mag with RWGF aluminum Bison Finger Groove and the Ruger 03 .45 Colt with RWGF brass Bradshaw Bisley, at temperatures down to -9, -14, -18, and 23 below zero, not once was my middle finger smacked by the trigger guard of either revolver. This includes one-hand and two-hand shooting at aerial water jugs. Freezing weather accentuates impact, even as your hands grow numb. As the single action backstrap offers superior protection to the base of one’s thumb, to also protect the middle finger ranks huge. I must catch up with Trey (airborne101) on his experience with a Ronnie Wells grip frame, as he, too, hasn’t lived the life of a librarian. Coming in from a frigid session with the single actions on stationary or aerial targets, I have virtually no memory of recoil. In fact, I can give you a better description of the recoil of a Ruger MK II 5-1/4” Target .22 auto pistol than the Ruger 03 or SBH Hunter with RW grip frames. David Bradshaw

I can’t wait. The .500 Linebaugh lets you know when it goes off. I have big hands and long fingers so the extra room of your namesake Bisley will be greatly appreciated
