Ronnie Wells called me last spring and asked what I thought about custom brass grip frames for Ruger single-actions. Naturally, I was all ears. Three things immediately stood out in that conversation: 1) Ronnie clearly knows his stuff. He spoke at length about Ruger guts, limitations found with cast frames, and handgun ergonomics 2) His frames are CNC milled, not cast 3) His process allows for an unlimited number of designs This morning, a box hit my doorstep with eight of his grip frames. Unequivocally, these are the highest grade backstraps I’ve ever encountered. The mating surfaces are dead on, the exteriors are impeccable even prior to polishing, and each variation serves a specific purpose. I couldn’t imagine any need not being fully met with these eight. But that said, eight is just a drop in the bucket. When I called Ronnie to thank him, he said there are in upwards of one hundred configurations in his head. Think about that. One-hundred grip frames and the potential to make many more. And since these are precision CNC milled, screw holes, locating pins, and mating areas will not vary. That means grips can be made from the same pattern to exactly fit a given model. Here are the eight with brief descriptions of the design. I’ll let Ronnie add color to each if he so chooses: Bisley, original Colt style, Bisley trigger: Bisley-Dragoon, Bisley trigger, XL Bisley hole: Wells #9, Bisley trigger: Standard Bisley w/mid pin, Bisley trigger: Keith #5, standard trigger guard, standard Blackhawk trigger: Keith #5, original geometry, standard Blackhawk trigger: Keith #5, Bisley trigger guard, Bisley trigger: XR3-RED, +0.300 length Custom engraving: Ronnie mentioned another project he’s working on that’s an absolute break-through for Ruger SAs. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

I’ve got 4 here myself for evaluation... after grafting A pair of old Qualite Lightning grips to my pair of Montado’s it was immediately visible that these are leaps and bounds better quality than the older cast models... some of the issues I ran into on the older cast models, was where material was lacking... Ronnie’s grips are all perfect or slightly proud on the frames I’ve fit to here... proud can be polished down to final fit... the old cast units were lacking on some surfaces, and that is much more challenging to fit... Ronnie has more knowledge on these revolvers than most anyone I’ve run across...
I’m jealous of that Bisley dragoon grip... I didn’t get one of those in my trial package
The ones I got for trial fit were New model brass Bisley (2) Kieth #5 Bisley trigger guard Super Blackhawk Bisley trigger guard
Really looking forward to trying these with bigger trigger guards for Minnesota big game hunting in the cold
Mine all either have my name or forum name on them as well

I received a box from Ronnie today to! These grip frames are everything that I was hoping for. They are leaps and bounds over the Ruger frames.
I have some extremely fancy Turkish walnut set back, I finally have something nice enough to use it for.
I already disassembled my 41mag and bolted one on. The grip frame to cylinder frame fit is spot on! The screw holes lineup perfect.
I’ll try to post pictures of my progress as I’m finishing it, and making my grip panels. ( when I figure out how to post pictures)

I was also blessed to receive a couple of Ronnie's brass grip frames. Because I have the propensity of smashing my knuckles with the big boomers I was interested in the gaining a little extra room behind the trigger guard. The two that I received are: - NM PJRB (Potato Judge Round Butt) Standard Bisley Large Finger Round Butt Inner and outer Bisley Trigger .200 longer than standard Bisley
- Wells # 9 (Gorilla Paw)
NM WELLS#9 Keith # 5 Shape, Same Length as Ruger Bisley With Bisley Trigger Guard
The quality is phenomenal - the cast frames don't compare to these. I will fit them the first chance I get. The aluminum frames should be awesome as well. I have a few ideas for light weight projects where the aluminum grip frames will be the ticket. I am very grateful that Ronnie is offering these to us with the multitude of options available.
