I have a G20SF and I like it a lot, BUT, I have to say that that Sig 220 And the DW Bruin have my Attention! I was actually cruising the web today and lookin at Kimber 10MM's Not really sure why I was lookin, but I was I still need to get another barrel for the G20SF. I'm thinking the KKM or Storm Lake...?? More decisions? Than I need new sights...? Thinkin either TFO's or maybe XS BIG Dots. I have Trijicons on the G27, and big Dots on the G23. I've never tried/seen the Heines, or any other's so unsure of how they compare?? BigBore44 BigBore44

I have a Kimber stainless target 10MM that shoots like a lazer that I am going to put on RF for sale if anyone is interested.

I have a G20SF and a G29SF....they are both great guns. Accurate, reliable - just right for what they are. But they are ugly and boring. I've been contemplating an STI Perfect 10 - takes 14 round magazines....6 inch barrel. But I think the "best" one is whatever you fancy! there are so many options - EAA, 1911 styles, Glock, Sig....

So Zeus has sent me on a feeding frenzy... What is the best 10mm out there for you and why? Pics are GOOD! bushog.... since you are sold on the 10mm Auto cartridge, you don't need to be sold on it. Nor can I tell you which pistol is "best." Nevertheless, a few notes are in order. Some years ago Nosler asked me to write a cartridge introduction on the 10mm Auto for a loading manual. It is easy to write copy for a fine cartridge, with which one has taken game including deer, used on livestock, carried in encounters with ugly individuals, and taken to the line in IHMSA silhouette. On the subject of steel shooting, so-called service pistols deployed in Production category competition include Colt 1911 National Match (pre-Gold Cup) .45 ACP, SIG/Sauer P220 .45 ACP, SIG/Sauer P226 9mm Luger, SIG P229 .357 SIG, and Les Baer 1911 Super Tac .45 ACP. Add in Colt 1911 Delta Elite 10mm Auto. Without accuracy none of these guns would've done diddly. Not surprisingly, the 10mm carries the most clout at 200 meters. There is something to be said for the flatness of a 1911, versus the width of a Glock 20, when working with chainsaws and around machinery. I've shot the big frame Glocks but really haven't lived with them, so cannot share a conclusion. In pitting a Glock 21 .45 ACP against the Les Baer, and pitting the Glock 20 against the Delta Elite, the Les Baer and Colt handily concluded matters at 100 yards. Reliability has never been an issue with my early Delta Elite. It just does not jam. The majority of its diet consisting of handloads. Buffers must be changed periodically, along with the spring if it weakens. The only ammunition to stop it: aluminum cases so badly corroded they simply would not chamber. Yet, were I to look for a 10mm Auto today, a Glock would be in the running. Accuracy would have to satisfy, or it would be out. David Bradshaw

Thanks for the reply David!
I'm not really stuck one one.
If I recall, you wrote a little segment on this forum about your Delta Elite a few years back that was the 1st thread that got my interests piquedin the 10mm!
Was it one where you were shooting old ammo?
Hell, I can remember some things sometimes and others other times...usually not the right one when I need it.

bushog.... DB Photos Vol. XX (20), presently on page 20 of Gallery section, shows the Delta Elite with severely corroded CCI aluminum case 10mm ammo. Remarkable that any of it fired. The 10mm stored together for a decade under horrendous humidity included Federal with brass and nickel cases, Hornady in brass cases, and CCI in aluminum cases. There were very few failures to fire with Federal brass, none with Federal nickel. Hornady experienced numerous misfires. CCI piled up misfires, also blowouts at 6 o'clock. Recall one or two squibs with CCI aluminum, which had to be driven out after oiling the bore. From a rest the Colt made a satisfying portion of hits on a metal pot at 200 yards, with Federal besting Hornady. CCI Blaser was not in the game at all.
I have shot three Colt Deltas, and each performed flawlessly. I cannot speak for others, any others. The 10mm Auto is an intrinsically accurate cartridge. Reloaded 10mm brass has a short reloading life at the upper pressure limit. Certainly the same is true for auto pistol brass in general, including the low pressure .45 ACP. Haven't experienced a single 6 o'clock blowout with the Colt 10mm. Would the same be true in a Glock? Or other pistol?
Us old dinosaurs who pack sixguns and primitive single-stack autos go around hopelessly outgunned... David Bradshaw

I appreciate my G20 sf for the utility it offers for a field gun with it's combination of horse power and fire power. I would really like a GREAT 1911 in 10mm, but for what I really use the 10mm for the G20 fits the bill. It's the only Glock I have ever owned (or even shot) where I have over a dozen 1911's. Mine has been very unreliable with lots of feeding issues. I have just gone back to the stock barrel. I haven't had issues with bulging brass, but then when I shoot it outside I am very lucky if I can find half the brass as the G20 flings it half way across the next county. I wanted to put a night sight on mine, as it has become my " movie theater going gun" of choice (Mostly due to capacity). I put on BattleHook night sights with tritium up front, but a serrated rear sight with no vials in it. I got it when Midway had them on sale pretty cheap. I like the size and sight picture of the rear sight and would buy it again.

That SIG 220 10mm is just such a chunk of steel! I like the SA only action but it is so heavy! We've got police turn in third gen G21s for about $330. I'm thinking I need at least one more. Maybe two since Lone Wolf has a drop in 400 Corbon barrel and I have a die set.

At the pistol range today with my boy, shooting our 9's and my STI .45 and doing good and having a ball. Little tiny gal came in next to us, an apparent new shooter being helped setting up by one of the range masters. I was shooting my M9 when I hear this loud boomer going off on the other side of the partition. I had forgot about the little gal and thought it was someones magnum. Nope. The little gal was struggling to hit a large target at 5 yards with a 10 mil Glock! I watched her for a moment and she was obviously struggling: shaking, flinching, having trouble holding the gun up and really not doing well with it. How would someone get the idea to shoot a 10 mil when so obviously a rookie shooter?

I bet she would have liked to try a lightly loaded S&W 38 (maybe a model 10) and actually had some fun with it... The person who talked her into, or sold her that 10mm should have a foot planted in his arse,, IMHO of course. Good way to end a new hobby/lifestyle!!! Stupid! BigBore44

How would someone get the idea to shoot a 10 mil when so obviously a rookie shooter? Maybe By reasoning that it's only 1mm bigger than a 9mm? Ronnie

Have done quite a bit of work with the 10mm since last posting. Had some "problems" with the used Glock 40 that I purchased... The previous owner put in some Ghost parts and rendered then gun not only unreliable but unsafe.... www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/11004643/all/Glock_Smiles.... That has now all been corrected by replacing the aftermarket parts with the original parts that came with the gun. The RAI has had some break-in issues mainly with feeding. The last couple of magazines have run fine...so just time will tell. One disconcerting problem however has been the slide release engaging mid-magazine... Have not had this happen since a Colt .45 Commander I had back in the 1980s. And last...the Para Elite LS Hunter...as stated the Hunter has been dropped from the Para/Remington line. Finally located one on GunBroker that had sat for several weeks at $1400...$150 over what had been retail. Was just about to write the Seller to ask if he would take $1300 when he dropped the price just before the auction ended...and I grabbed it with no one else bidding. I feel blessed as there was another NIB one that sold yesterday for $1525. It has a been a GREAT shooter...and compared the other long slide 10mms out there that all start at $2K a bargain. Two days ago I was shooting and put 8/9 rounds on a one gallon jug at 50 yards standing...very please with the gun...zero issues or malfunctions. And if anyone is looking for bullets, Widener's is having a sale on theirs....got Speer 165 bonded HPs for $0.12 a piece deiveded...less than half price. Great cartridge...Bob

ps...I have also had a lot of stories from women in the NRA classes that I have taught who had the same things done to them...usually by Macho kinda guys who think women shooting is a joke or don't want them out on the range with them in the first place...

I'm curious, what Ghost parts were used? Was it just a bad combination of spring weights? I'm starting to think about mods to the 30 when I get the grip sorted out...
