But also remember just because someone flips it and asks for whatever price they think they can get for doesn't mean they were right. An awful lot of guns languish on the shelf until some offer them close enough to what they have in it to stomach the loss...

By the price I would guess probably 25yrs or so I’m betting 20 years older than that, I started loading in the mid 80s and the primers boxes had evolved to a different design then. I remember in high school loading for a buddies 22/250 and they had some “old” primers we were using up that came in those boxes. If kept dry I bet they work just fine. I was given a foot locker of old reloading components a few years back that was slightly dated (like a box of Nosler Partitions that are from the first 1-2 years of production old!) and the primer worked fine for casual loads. Didn’t really run that ammo over the chrono to see if it was any better or worse than new stuff. But it went bang and grouped fine.

Is supposed to be visible again tonight so might get a repeat.
We went out here in Colorado last night but didn’t get the show right then. I know people all around the area before and after got it so we just timed it poorly.

I think the forcing cones destroyed long before more barrels get worn out. Typically light for caliber, ball powders are harder on forcing cones than heavy for caliber bullets are, and if one is running their loads to redline level or not. My guess is those details are more pressing than jacked vs cast.
of course we could add to the conversation and add cast and lubed or cast and powder coated bullets these days...

My cousin has one of these and even though he has a safe full of super high end 1911 being a 1911 coinsure this is what he packs daily.
Eats every load he has ever tried shoots under 3" at 25 yards, lightweight, decent trigger, decent sights, fairly easily replaceable if needed unlike his Volkmann, Wilson, Les Baer, Cabot, Alchemy, and Ed Brown guns are...
Heck of a value...

I know the article well, my first semicustom Ruger was as twin of his inspired by that article. My front sight was too short for heavy bullets and was sent to Dustin Linebaugh to install a Belt Mountain base pin and a drift front sight with gold bars.
I settled on a 335gr LFNGC bullet I cast over enough HS6 to get to 1050fps and have happily carried it in the wood for close to 20 years now. While I have other guns that get packed more often that gun wont ever leave the safe unless I am carrying it in the field. I still love that gun...

What twist barrel do you have in your rifle? Most older 22-250 rifles had slow twist barrels. My No 1 has a 1-14” twist and won’t stabilize anything over a 55 or 60gr bullet (and only some 60gr bullets). So it’s worth asking
I shoot 55gr Vmax flat bases in mine and is wonderfully accurate and although I havnt shot a coyote with it I have no doubt it would be dynamite. I know a guy who runs the 53gr version in his AR in 223 and kills piles of dogs every year with the combo. Rarely has an exit hole to sew up.

The lead is worth what he is asking. Tough way to make a living though.

I’d agreed on Turnbull CCH finish, and Fishpaw was the gold standard for custom grips they are lovely for sure.
I can’t see conclusively on my phone but I don’t think that laser engraved, I think it was hand engraved. Some of it I find odd suck as leaving the factory cylinder in it and not taking the roll stamping off the cylinder before engraving it but taking the factory barrel warning off the barrel.
Also why wouldn’t you upgrade the rear sight? But it still looks like a fine gun that I’d love to own.

I’ve tried other but simplified my life with the 480.
750-950 W231 950-1100 HS6 1100+ H110
60% of my shooting is the 231 load with a 375gr bullet at 865fps then 39.5% the same bullet it the MIHA 385gr hollowpoint over HS6 for 1050fps and .5% of the time is the same bullets driven harder than I enjoy or see a need for…
YMMV

My brother has one, he likes it a lot. I have the Sig P365 and like it better just because of the shape of the grip suits my hand a bit better. I would say one is a superior gun to the other.
It is pretty remarkable how shootable these little guns really are though. 8” gongs at 50 yards is relatively easy

I too like "snubbies" and the light weights. Here's a 2.5" 329 Alaska backpacker with a stainless steel cylinder (it weighs the same as the 4" 329s). . . I about to take the dogs for a walk and will take the Backpacker along - it fits nicely in the rear pocket of my carharts. . Paul PS Would love to find a 325. Paul do you get a volume discount on those grips from Hogue? I will say they are game changers for alum framed Smiths, worth every penny. What do you think of that 2.5” vs the reg 4” 329? They seem to be a real handful regardless of the load but sure work for the task at hand of carry a lot shoot a little guns.

I am a sucker for snubbies, the Nightgaurds intrigued me for sure, not sure which of the models I would pick if given my druthers. It would not be the 44mag, too much fun in such a small light package... How about a Night Guard model 315 in 38 Special? That would have been a good one. I think the 396 44sp might have gotten the nod. Hard to say.
