There are 6 on Gunbroker right now ranging from $1200 to $2500. Cant say I care for the grip style, but thats an easy fix. The grips feel great in my hand, when shooting they hit the joint at the bottom of my thumb so we will see if they stay. If I can find a set of the Hogue fingerless rubber grips I may give them a try and see if that cures the issue. I'm not a big proponent of rubber grips but if they fix issue...

They probably have one guy who pulls out the frauds and he only works so much.

Anyone seen lumber prices lately? Check out OSB & Plywood pricing! My remodeling contractor tells me lumber prices have gone up 200% since January 1. From the bills I am getting, I believe him. I work in the sheetmetal world and can tell you for fact that regular carbon steel sheet has more than doubled in cost in the last 8 months or so. We have seen some large parts just 40% in customer cost without making a dime more in the shops pocket. Customers all think we are being greedy when we really are holding the same profit margin we always have. Fun times...

One of the things I've had the most difficulty in finding is 30-30 Bullets. 30-30 ammo has been impossible, bullets for reloading not much better. Was finally able to add a few boxes of Hornady 150 grn RN and one box of 160 grn FTX. UPDATE: After posting this, I saw Midsouth had Hornady 160 grn FTX Bullets in stock. Ordered enough to do me for a long time... This why I transitioned to cast bullets for the 30/30 for general fun shooting years ago. I have enough jacketed bullets around if I wanted to get serious but then I would reach for the 45/70 then anyways...

$175.00 mold, $54.00 handles, available now without the wait of back ordered and handles and LBT lead time (varies greatly) its not a bad deal for what should be a dandy of a mold...

It’s a WWG conversion on a Pistol Grip SS Marlin 1895. One of their Kevlar stocks with a deceleration pad, and all the WWG goodies from their package guns. I will load a plethora of 50AK loads to try, plus shoot ( single load) some 500L and 500 Max from time to time. I know a 450 at 1650 will kill anything that walks, especially with a solid. No use shooting 2000FPS loads on a daily basis Yup totally agree, I run a 350gr LFN in my Marlin 45/70 at 1650fps and seldom think I need more. Doesnt mean I would want to try one though, I have a 465gr LFNGC mold that would be the cats meow for a 50AK I think, Its a dandy in a 500BE double gun...

I may have missed it somewhere but what rifle did you get in 50AK? I have never handled or shot one, the only chance I had to do so was a buddies 1895 Marlin that was loaded way stout (525gr cast at 1950ish) and I had a pounding headache at the time and decided to pass. I get a chance to shoot one one of these days...

Awfully hard to document that gun was actually there, and without iron clad providence it’s just a very nice WWII 1911 of course. He doesn’t even seem to pretend to have documentation so...

Why go out if your way to shoot a shorter case that will put a carbon/crud ring in the cylinder that is all sorts of fun to clean out?
I have shot buckets of RCBS 95gr semiwaddcutters over 3.2gr of W231 and a std primer for years. Runs 850fps from a 4 5/8” barrel and shoots as good of groups as I can hold. I have shot as low as 2.5gr of W231 with that bullet but never chronoed the load.
The point is the 32 mag case is so user friendly I see no point in going to a shorter case. Heck my 327 mags have never seems a 32 mag case so I don’t have to clean the carbon ring out of them and I really didn’t think I’d ever use that top end of that case over the 32 mag either.

That is a twin of a gun a old buddy of mine had. He bought a LBT mold for it and I cast a bunch of bullets for him for it for a while. It was a fun gun to shoot but he lost interest and sold it and the mold after a couple of years. I like the round a lot, it is a shame that it is basically dead because of not being able to get brass for it now. That 500JRH cylinder sure makes it a lot more versatile down the road...

I considered having it made into a .50 Alaskan, and suppose I could have it re chambered later. It does have a long throat allowing bullets to be loaded long at max length. I will say as much as I love No 1 rifles the stock configuration isn’t the best for recoil management, at least for my 6’4” 210lb frame. I have shot the tropical in 458 and 450NE and heavy loaded 45/70 versions before and there are certainly easier shaped stocks to shoot those big boomers in than a stock no 1 shape. Taking it up to a 50 Alaskan might play into those thoughts, at least for me. YMMV

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it was less the Smith wont handle the same pressures (within SAAMI specs of course) but that the Smiths would wear lose much faster.
The Redhawks will take a steady diet of brutal loads and not blink. That said, especially for heavies the Redhawks are far happier, Garrett loads their heavies longer than the Smith cylinders will allow and mandate them be shot in just Redhawks and a handful of other over built guns.
Naturally these loads are all at recoil levels that are just not a lot of fun to shoot...
