Ran across this on Gunbroker. Really good looking gun. Grips claimed to be by Roy Fishpaw. I saw another gun this guy sold over a year ago that had Roy’s grips and he had pics of the inside of the panels. Is worth $3k? More info would be nice. www.gunbroker.com/item/1047282267

That fella has sold a TON of new Rugers on the RF over the years and is a great guy.
No reason to doubt the authenticity of the grips. I’m sure if he knew more he’d have said.

I was just hoping a forum member might know something more about this gun. The seller states that he believes the engraving is machine, and doesn’t know who did the CCH. Whatever the case may be, I like it.

Fishpaw worked with Bowen more than anybody else so I’d bet $$ that’s who shortened the barrel and had the coloring done….

I’d agreed on Turnbull CCH finish, and Fishpaw was the gold standard for custom grips they are lovely for sure.
I can’t see conclusively on my phone but I don’t think that laser engraved, I think it was hand engraved. Some of it I find odd suck as leaving the factory cylinder in it and not taking the roll stamping off the cylinder before engraving it but taking the factory barrel warning off the barrel.
Also why wouldn’t you upgrade the rear sight? But it still looks like a fine gun that I’d love to own.

Do not think laser engraving, but do not think hand engraving either. Machine done to my eye, but we do have an engraver here on the forum. His name escapes me though, Texas guy, that studied under Frank Hendricks along with a friend of mine.

I'd say that is a Gary Reeder gun. The lazer engraving looks like his scroll work, the Turnbull cch is like what's on his guns. He often leaves the factory rear sight. The customer must have requested he leave his usual billboard signature off it.

It is assuredly NOT hand engraved, it's etched.

For non-artisan scratchin', the EMF Shootist appeals to me a lot. Has a certain Old Lucky air about it. I should probably just shake the piggy and order one, before the price goes up or they are discontinued. Good detail pics here www.icollector.com/item.aspx?i=27184626

Everyone has different tastes. To my taste, and probably just mine, this is a first-class revolver harmed by less than first-class “engraving”. I am a fan of tasteful, well executed engraving and have paid handsomely for it. But, this ain’t it.
