Its been debated endlessly and I keep going back and forth myself. The bottom line is that they both work and there is no one right answer. Consider the game to be shot and the maximum range it will be shot at and then set the gun up with the right cast or jacketed bullet for the job and either will work well. There are always a few spectacular kills as proof positive that one is better than the other and a few unexplainable failures that one or the other doesn't work but in the vast majority of cases there is a tremendous amount and variety of game very satisfactorily killed with both. I personally find it a bit more satisfying when I get something with not just my own handload but with a bullet I made myself.

I spoke to Starline who sold out there supply of 414 brass. I was told they would make another run once they had a sufficient backorder but thought it would probably be a year or two.

I've ordered a number of grips from Patrick and have been very happy with his work. Good luck I think you'll really enjoy them.

The advice is appreciated. Sounds like I already have what I need with the 41.

I have a Model 97 41 with a 5.5" barrel and would like to get a 44 Special but can't decide on a 3.5,3.75, 4 or 4.25 barrel. I was curious as to what would be recommended by those that have them. I was looking for something that carried easily in a cross draw holster when I'm busy doing other things but didn't sacrifice shootability too much. Wasn't sure if it was just personal preference or there was a good compromise length. I would get the rounded butt as that looks pretty sharp with the short barrels. Thanks.

I had Gary rechamber my Ruger 357 Bisley to 356 GNR and have been very happy with it. Should be a real hot rod in the Freedom Arms with that length barrel especially. Not that you asked but another vote for no scribbling. Good luck with it and I'll be anxious to hear what kind of performance you get out of it.

I wish I had some original brass but any I have found has been $$$! I am cutting down Winchester 375 brass. Now if I could just find a 7.5" Seville to go with the 10" life would be grand.

Lee, thanks for the response. I checked the Sierra manual which listed C.O.A.L at 2.125. The Hornady manual listed O.A.L at 2.080. Subtracting the case length of 1.610 I was left with .515 from Sierra and .47 from Hornady. I was looking to order an LBT mold for a 225 WFN or WLN GC and was wondering if I can get away with a .5 nose or should go with a .45. If its a little long I guess I can always trim the cases back a few thousands.

Does anyone know what the maximum bullet nose length is for a cast bullet to be used in both a Seville and a Dan Wesson? Thanks.

I read an article by John Taffin wherein he states the Freedom Arms Model 83 in 357 Mag. can be loaded to far higher performance than any of the 357 Maximum/Supermag revolvers. www.sixguns.com/range/fa353.htm I'm curious if those who may know feel the same can be said for the Freedom Arms model 83's in 41 & 44 mag. v. the Supermags in 414 and 445?

At one time they did make a 414, but not for very long at all. I would certainly buy one if they become available. Finding one has become the equivalant of the search for the Holy Grail.

I spoke to Dan Wesson at the NRA Convention and was told they are going to start making revolvers again next year. They will initially be made in 357 as that is their most requested caliber and will see after that. Hope it comes to be.

I have a real itch for an 8mm JDJ barrel. I've been shooting a 30-40 Krag Imp. SSK but there are several good bullets that seem as though they would work well at the velocities of the 8mm JDJ. If you get to shooting that barrel I'd be curious as to what you think.
