For those using a shoulder holster with a scoped 7.5" single action what have you found that you like? I have a Freedom Arms with a 4x Leupold and have been using an Uncle Mike's shoulder holster that works but am wondering what's out there that might be better. Thanks.

I use Starline brass with Federal large rifle match primers and have had no problems.

My deer license this year is a cow elk tag for Montana. I'm going to do my best to fill it with a FA 500 WY with a 4x Leupold using 445 LBT WFN-GC over 14.5 Longshot for 1140 fps.

The great thing about handguns is that not everybody is looking for the same thing so there is plenty of room for FA's, customs, etc etc. They all work so as long as the person who is using is happy thats all that matters. My point was for me I find the FA's are consistently outstanding. The bores are the right size, all the cylinder mouths are the same size and the proper size in proportion to the barrel which makes it so much easier to cast and size good bullets. Agreed they were not meant to be bench rest rifles but living in NJ most of my time is spent punching holes in paper so accuracy becomes a game it in of itself. If it's in a caliber FA makes then my preference is a FA. BUT having been bit by a love for the odd and the unusal I'm not getting rid of my 375's,30 carbine, 356 GNR, 445, 38-40's etc. etc. etc. and would love a Ruger Bowen 218 Bee and...and....

I recently got back from the range and the trouble is every time I bring a Freedom Arms revolver it makes me wonder why I buy anything else. They lock up tight as a bank vault, the dimensions are always correct and uniform and the accuracy may be matched by a few revolvers but exceeded by none that I have found. I have some handguns for self defense and carry but most of what I do is plinking, informal target shooting and hunting. I have Smiths,Rugers,Dan Wessons, etc as well as some custom versions and certainly appreciate them but for the calibers that the Freedom Arms are available in little shoots as well. The 357 version is more accurate than any other maker in that caliber that I have and is faster than my 357 maximums. Same for the 44 and can still do anything my 445 will do.Etc,etc. They are no doubt expensive and I enjoy the variety of shooting other brands but for picking the best tool to do the best job I keep coming back to the FA's. Not trying to convince anyone else and am constantly amazed by the quality and beauty of the custom jobs but for me the FA's are a constant source of dissatisfaction in a number of other revolvers I own.

I really like the 6.8mm and shoot it in the T/C Contender with a 14" barrel. The best load I've found to date is a Hornady 110 Vmax, 27 grains of RL 10X with a Fed 210M. Velocity averaged 2430 fps. The bullet is lightly constucted and would hesitate to use it on a large deer but for smaller deer, antelope or varmints its great. Barnes now has an 85 TSX that should be great but I haven't had a chance to work up a load yet

I have a little room to spare, its not a real hot load and I crimp them pretty well. I have a LBT 400 WFN-GC for my 475 and thats pretty tight. Its a 6" with open sights and I settled on 15 grains of HS-6 which gives me around 1050 and so far no problems.

I was fortunate enough to get a Montana cow elk tag this year and am hoping to fill it with a handgun. Been working on loads for my Freedom Arms 500 Wyoming and settled on 14.5 of Hodgdon's Longshot with an LBT 445 WFN-GC lubed with LBT Blue. 10 shots averaged 1141 fps with a standard deviation of 9. Group is 10 shots at 25 yards with a 7.5" barrel and a 4x Leupold. 25 grains of H 4227 averaged 1154 with the same SD of 9 but it didn't seem quite as accurate. Case for comparison is a 45 ACP.

I assume a 445 on a Bisley must be made as a 5 shot? Beautiful gun, good luck with it.

A number of years ago one of the distributors was closing it out and I bought a case of something like 4,500 pieces for around $300.00 and change. I've used it in the Contender and the Freedom Arms and found it to be an impressive round. Doesn't do anything a number of other rounds can't do but its something different.

Appreciate the responses. I have quite a supply of 45 Win.Mag brass but have a cylinder for my Freedom Arms in tht caliber so I'll stick with that and leave the 45 ACP cylinder as is.
