just saw this... www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP2urMzB6tUHenry making double action revolvers??? hmmm... a trade off for making S&W's lever action??? though it looks more Charterish to me... but that's a pretty big jump from lever action rifles, to actually make revolvers, just like it would be a big jump for S&W to actually make a lever action rifle

And yet S&W's new lever action is chambered in 44 Remington Magnum

On big loop levers… yep, John cowboy cool, but for cowboy action, it slows the rifle down…. I added one from Wild West Guns ( of Alaska ) , on my 45-70… my reasoning is if gloves are needed for cold weather hunting, here in Minnesota, you can’t get you fingers into a regular loop…. & I have big hands…. I don’t look at that as tactical, I look at it as practical, for cold weather hunting
My cowboy levers often have leather lace wrapped around the bottom of the loop, making it smaller… which is proven to speed up firing

while I can certainly understand a wide meplat not penetrating "as" much, aren't they supposed to be more consistent, on penetrating, in a straight line... I thought I remember reading, that more pointed, & round nose bullets had a better chance of "wandering" during penetration???

not a legal weapon for deer in Minnesota... I even bought a 50 caliber muzzleloading pistol, & I think via the wording, that gun is also not legal here...

while I probably wont buy one, as I have several lever actions already...
I would think it makes real business sense to offer a gun in the companies name sake cartridges so S&W is really offering a gun in 44 Remington Magnum... now if it was offered in 460 S&W or 500 S&W, I'd have to buy one...
probably the biggest issue here is, if S&W is not building them, or are assembling them, from 3rd party parts, the parts / design, is likely not capable of handling those cartridges...
of course this is just my business thinking, & likely not the way the corporations operate, or we would already have a lever gun in 480 Ruger, from Ruger

too bad no medallions... I'd probably buy a gun to fit those grips... these came from South America, & unfortunately I didn't buy them "very right" but was happy to get them for what I paid ( around 10 years ago )

I don't have many high end customs, but I have one, that has been worked on, by 3 "artists" Clements logo is easy to see, but either the engraver on this gun, is good at hiding his mark, or left his mark off, since the base gun already wore Clements mark???

dump tube magazine looks like a 22 Rim Fire style... wonder how that would hold up with brisk 44 mags
plus it only holds 9 rounds... so it's not an "assault" rifle
... and no where do I see a twist rate...

Is it going to be a single action, or should this have been in a different category???
