I agree, I wish this baby could talk! The photos aren't very good, but you tell can this Ruger has been "Out and about".... The muzzle has quite a bit of deep pitting from where it was in contact with the leather for so long and there are some rough and worn spots on the frame.
I have had this pistol for almost 30 years now. It has accompanied me on several hunting trips and numerous outings on the ranch, although nothing on par with being in Alaska.....It shoots great is is an absolute joy to carry. I am hoping to someday take it with me on a trek to Alaska!

I got this 4-5/8" .357 magnum Flat top many years ago from a guy who had kept it in the holster, in a plastic bag underneath the floor of his barn......for a YEAR! The gun had originally belonged to his brother who had passed away. The guy who gave it to me did not like guns, so that is why he had stored it in his barn. His brother had used the Ruger as his "Outback" gun in the wilds of Alaska. Based on the serial number #10xxx, it was made in 1957..... The gun had a few hard spots here and there and a coating of light rust, but after a couple of hours of scrubbing, it turned out pretty good: This is the holster is was stored in.....An original S.D. Myres "Threepersons" rig:

This is great info....I just checked my Bearcat and it is a "P" series with a flat button ejector rod. I looked at Ruger's website and it appears that mine was made sometime between 1959 and 1960...
