I got this 4-5/8" .357 magnum Flat top many years ago from a guy who had kept it in the holster, in a plastic bag underneath the floor of his barn......for a YEAR! The gun had originally belonged to his brother who had passed away. The guy who gave it to me did not like guns, so that is why he had stored it in his barn. His brother had used the Ruger as his "Outback" gun in the wilds of Alaska. Based on the serial number #10xxx, it was made in 1957..... The gun had a few hard spots here and there and a coating of light rust, but after a couple of hours of scrubbing, it turned out pretty good: This is the holster is was stored in.....An original S.D. Myres "Threepersons" rig:

Wow what a nice pair, Congratulations. It'd be nice if it could talk having been used in the back country of Alaska. I'm glad it came through in such good shape, being stored in a plastic sack under the floor of a barn does not fall under the category of being well cared for. Thanks for sharing, please let us know how it shoots. Frank

I agree, I wish this baby could talk! The photos aren't very good, but you tell can this Ruger has been "Out and about".... The muzzle has quite a bit of deep pitting from where it was in contact with the leather for so long and there are some rough and worn spots on the frame.
I have had this pistol for almost 30 years now. It has accompanied me on several hunting trips and numerous outings on the ranch, although nothing on par with being in Alaska.....It shoots great is is an absolute joy to carry. I am hoping to someday take it with me on a trek to Alaska!

Fine gun and holster. A "Working Rig" as we say. Yes, Yes if it could only talk what tales it would tell. Thanks for sharing.

Mic214 All the pitting is on the outside I presume? It needs to go to Alaska sometime, but that's a great Packing six-gun & duty here would also be fitting. Let us know how it shoots. Frank

Yeah, all of the pitting is on the outside of the barrel. She shoots like a dream!
Now that I am retired, I think that a trip to Alaska will be in my future... ;D!
