I must be living the dream... as I'm about done... a 5 shot 480 Super Blackhawk is about the only thing on my list yet... so I suppose if I had a dream gun, it would be a customized Bisley 480 deeply blued, with a banded front sight on a 4.5" round pipe case color hammer & a nicely fit fancy wood set of grips This minus the 480. I am done.

I took delivery of mine about a year and a half ago. From the Colt custom shop: SAA New Frontier; 5 1/2" barrel; blue and color case hardened; level B engraving (50% coverage and they were very generous); one-piece ivory grips with no medallion. Then I had Chris Andre of Slickbald Custom Leather build a rig for it. Loosely based on the El Paso Saddlery Patton rig, fully hand tooled and the leather tooling matches the engraving on the gun. When I carry a pistol, it's the one, and it shoots as good as it looks.

Old model 357 frame Flattop in 45 colt. Linebored Long Bowen heat treated 4140 cylinder to allow comfortable 1.68" C.O.A.L. Five inch barrel with full length steel ERH Post front sight with LR gold bar reference marks Power Custom two piece steel SAA style grip frame One piece ivory grips Clements Bisley spur hammer. Power custom wide old model trigger Oversized Belt mountain Locking #5 base pin. CCH frame/hammer and rust blue barrel/cylinder/grip frame by Turnbull
Over the past two years, I've gathered all the components to build this gun. It will all get sent off to a single action surgeon pretty soon. However, ivory may not be a legal option by the time grips need to be fit. In that case, I haven't decided between fancy English walnut, flame Koa, or Some type of horn.

Well, like many others here I am blessed to already have 1 o 2 dream guns including a blue, octagon, bisley, sheep horned, 500L. But there is one more... Linebaugh built 5 shot 45 Colt brass bisley with whatever John thinks it should have. Would posting a picture of those two specimens please?

You can beat that now by buying a set of slabs to make your grips from. That's what I did, I ordered three sets of slabs from Gunner Products, two for revolver grips and one for a knife.

Slickbald does fanastic work!

I already posted my dream SA build but some day I'd also like to have Hamilton Bowen build me a GP44 conversion with a 4.5" SP style barrel and integral muzzle break. If he'll do a factory 6 shot cylinder in 480 that would be cool, otherwise I'm thinking moonclipped ala 50 AE or anything .500 and up without moonclips. Essentially something between this: And this:

dang... quit posting those pics of Alaskans with GP grips... I like my soft finger groove Alaskan grips... but those GP grips with nice wood inserts just add a touch of class... I have a pair of GP grips around here somewhere ( probably in the attic, with the original GP box ) I'd like to try the factory GP grips on my 454 or 480, & if I liked them, order a set of inserts

I much prefer the looks and feel of the GP style grips, I say go for it. Those on the Alaskan are the snake pattern set from Altamont. You will likely need to make a grip locator pin though, it's easy but just something to remember if your Alaskan has the smaller hole.

A Ruger GP100 in 10mm would be nice. As far as single actions go it would be a BFR that I will hopefully get back soon. I don't want something that is so pretty I would be afraid to shoot it. That would be like having a low mileage 1970 Hemi Cuda 4 speed. It would be awesome but all I would do is just stare at it and not drive it. I can't bring myself to get something like that.

Thanks for the heads up. Nutmeg sports is selling SAA blanks for $450. Gunner is $50 less!

Yep and if you get them big enough, you can have anything made from it. A set big enough for the Bisley will work for anything.

I already have mine. However, a SRH in either 500 Linebaugh or 500 JRH would be nice
